Watercolor Batik: Beginner & Beyond

This workshop introduces students with experience in
watercolor to the technique of Watercolor Batik. You will learn
to apply watercolor to very fine rice paper, with a wax resist.
Come create in an enjoyable educational atmosphere and
create an amazing batik piece.

Budding Artist Workshop

A great budding artist's beginner’s workshop, experience four
art mediums and methods of artistic expression. Students will
learn to use graphite and charcoal, oil paints, watercolor, and
finally — watercolor applied in the method of Watercolor Batik.

Contemporary Painting for
Intermediate & Advanced Artists

Cultivate a critical eye as you seek deeper meaning in your
work and learn to understand the diverse and challenging
issues in contemporary painting. Through critiques and
discussion, be challenged to find your own voice in painting.
Previous experience in abstraction is not required.

Re-Define Your Vision
SANDRA KAPLAN
ABILITY: INTERMEDIATE, ADVANCED, PROFESSIONAL
In this supportive class environment, students can paint in the
medium of their choice (watercolor, acrylic, oil, mixed media),
with individual instruction from instructor. Each student will
be encouraged to develop their own artistic painting goals
with emphasis on intent and thought process, as well as basic
skills of color, composition and painting technique. Students
will be encouraged to visit local galleries and museums, and
will report back to the class on their discoveries. Occasional,
supportive group critiques will help to develop students' critical
abilities. Representational and abstract artists are welcome.

Practice your encaustic art.
ASLD will provide griddles, heat gun and torch. You will
need to bring all other supplies — panels, medium, paint,
brushes, tins, etc. Prepare your boards (if needed) and
come with some ideas to work with.
$15 per session
Requirements:
• Must pre-register at ASLD or on the phone.
• Must have taken the Basic Encaustic Techniques
workshop with Victoria Eubanks* (For liability reasons;
to ensure that you know the safety techniques and protocols,
and are familiar with the encaustic studio and tools).
