Continue down the street Brook under the Kibbelsteg
Bridges until reaching Pickhuben and take a peek at the
romantic indoor courtyard tucked away in warehouse
Block H. From here cross the Neuerwegsbrücke and
continue until you reach
Block O, an elaborate
merchant building with
picturesque bay windows
dating back to imperial
times and whose architecture
in many ways resembles
that of a castle.
The headquarters of the HHLA
are known as the “town hall of
the Speicherstadt“.
Return to Neuerwegsbrücke
and take the first
right onto St Annenufer.
The SPEICHERSTADTMUSEUM occupies a historic warehouse
floor in house No 2 of Block R and portrays the
history of the warehouse complex in authentic surroundings.
One may also participate in a typical teatasting.
Discover what is known to port experts as
the “TOWN HALL” OF THE SPEICHERSTADT on the street
St Annen, a splendid, neo­Renaissance building housing
the head offices of the Hamburg Hafen und Logistik
AG (Hamburg Port and Logistics).
The tree­lined Holländische Brook alongside the Elbe
fleet (canal) has a pastoral atmosphere to it. The pointed
arches of Block U are a beautiful example of the ornate
Wilheminian­style façades typical of the Speicherstadt.
Opposite the Holländische Brook on the other
side of the fleet stands another very representative

the street Alter Wandrahm.
The DEUTSCHES zOLLMUSEUM on the one­time customs
border opposite Kornhausbrücke reveals the
tricks of the smuggler‘s trade and presents a wealth
of items on display. Finish the walking tour with a stop
on Poggenmühlenbrücke at the eastern end of the
warehouse complex which offers the most beautiful
view of an elaborately decorated
building standing
on a tiny piece of land jutting
into the Speicherstadt
fleete and hence known as
WASSERSCHLÖSSCHEN or
the moated castle.
