DEAR CAMPERS...
Welcome to summer camp at Dovercourt! We have over
100 different varieties camps for ages 4-16 to provide you
with lots of options and unique opportunities. Choose
from up to 40 different options per week in an assortment
of streams including Visual, Culinary, and Performing
Arts, Sports, Overnight, Adventure Academy, Science &

Working together!
Our partners make us great - and we are grateful to our
long-time partners including BC Sports, Radical Science,
Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo, Ian Dudley of ORANGE STEM
Education, magician Ian Quick, Nick Miller, and many,
many more.
Summer is short - and we believe kids should be active
in the great outdoors as much as possible. We have been
working closely with Ottawa’s Kitchissippi Centre, and
tweaking our own Adventure Academy programs to get
as many campers as we can to spend their days exploring
the outdoors with us.
We’re parents too. And we get it. Dovercourt’s senior
management team is made of parents - mostly parents
of campers and camp staff. We are here to help address
any concerns or questions you may have and are happy
to assist you in selecting the best camp programs for your
children.
In the meantime, be sure to download your copy of our
Parent Handbook, available online, and to check the back
of this guide for “Parent FAQs”.
See you this summer!

The belief that each and every child
has an equal right to a happy summer
camp experience is at the heart of
our programming. To bring this belief
into practice, we rely strongly on the
partnership of parents. Please take the
time to make us aware of any medical,
behavioural, or cognitive differences
(diagnosed or undiagnosed) your child
may have at the time of registration.
This might include social anxieties,
communication barriers, the tendency
to run or wander away from the group,
or simply requiring additional “body
breaks” or a little bit of extra attention.
Making us aware early on will help our
Inclusion Coordinators and Inclusion
Team to arrange for any additional
supports in order to ensure that each
child has the best possible experience
in camp.
For questions or to discuss your child’s
participation in camp, or arrange a meeting
with our Inclusion staff, please contact us at
inclusion@dovercourt.org
Our Inclusion Team is comprised of
dedicated, passionate and knowledgeable
individuals trained in behaviour
management strategies and non-Violent
Crisis Prevention and Intervention.
The team includes Inclusion Coordinators,
Leads, Support Workers and Buddies and
we work closely with families and partners
to offer various levels of support for our
campers including:
• One-on-one support workers
• Low-ratio staffing models
• Camp Buddies
• Profiles and individual accommodation
plans
Our Inclusion Team can be reached
anytime throughout the year so please
contact us and we would be happy to
help plan your child’s summer camps.
summeR CAmp DetAils & FAQ
Q. Is swimming included in the camp
program every day?
A. Many of our camp programs include
an open swim time in the indoor pool,
the outdoor wading pool, or at the
beach.
Most camps do not swim every day but
we recommend bringing a bathing suit
and towel every day, as swim times can
change depending on weather or other
activities.
Q. Can I register for individual days or
half-days?
A. no. All of our programs are one-week
programs, and all are full-day.
Q. I have put my child on a waitlist. What
is the likelihood that a spot will open up?
A. Some of our camps will fill early on
in the year. We do watch the waitlists
carefully and look to increase capacity or
add additional weeks or spaces where
there is demand. The waitlists do move
and if a spot becomes available you will
receive a phone call and/or email from
us to let you know.
RegistRAtion
Registration is available in person at 411
Dovercourt Ave, by phone 613-798-8950
x0 and online at Dovercourt.org. Just
before you “check out”, you will have
the option to add ‘extras’ to your camp
registration including Extended Care,
Camp Lunches, and T-shirts (for Adventure
Academy programs). Camp swim lessons
are not add-ons to camps, and must be
selected as a separate registration.
split pAyment
A split payment can be arranged for your
convenience. 50% of the total registration
fee is due at the time of registration, and
the outstanding balance is due on or
before June 1st. The outstanding balance
is not processed automatically. You will
receive an email and a follow up phone
call to process the outstanding amount
owed. The split payment option is
available for registrations made until April
30th, 2019.
CAnCellAtions
Refunds will be given up to two weeks (14
days) in advance of the program start date.
An Administration fee of $20 will apply to
all customer-requested refunds.

Before your child’s
misplaced items are
brought to the summer
camp lost and found, we do our best to
return the items to you. To help, please
ensure that each item you send with
your child is clearly labeled with first and
last name. We look forward to sending
campers home with all their belongings
this summer. All items left behind at the
end of the day will be stored in the Lost
& Found POD located in the parking lot.
At the end of each month, any items not
picked up will be donated.
