Based on the insights from the research conducted, Dr. Martyniszyn presented
his original methodological framework that enabled him to make
some broader conclusions about how the system works. Participants' questions
focused on the parallels between Croatian and Polish experiences. It
was noted the existence of some institutional weaknesses characterized by
the Polish system and which do not exist in Croatia. Dr. Martyniszyn
warned of the perceived passivity in implementing the rules on competition
in Poland in recent years, which in his opinion stems from the mentioned
institutional shortcomings.
The panel was precious for Croatia's close comparative experience, as
pointed out by present members of the Croatian Competition Council.
Professor at the University of Belfast Marek Martyniszyn, PhD, held a workshop
on publishing papers in international scientific journals on November
16, 2018 at the Faculty of Economics & Business.
This interactive workshop was concerned with the process of publishing
papers in international scientific journals, and the lecturer provided practical
advice on solving the most common problems and difficulties in the
process. The workshop was intended for the scientific and teaching staff of
the Faculty of Economics & Business and Faculty of Law of the University
of Zagreb and the PhD students at these faculties.
Dr. Martynissyn encouraged the participants to publish in English in prominent
scientific journals, which should be deliberate personal decision, but
also warned, among other things, that it is necessary to know the process
of publishing, to use the native speaker for proofreading, and to be aware
of the huge competition in that process.
It was interesting to hear about the criteria for academic advancement in
the UK, which is entirely focused on publishing articles in magazines.
