concession house, and patio. In 2002, through<br />

the generous support of friends and families,<br />

the Academy officially completed construction<br />

of the Cavalier Field House with weightlifting<br />

and conditioning rooms, fully equipped athletic<br />

training facilities, multiple locker rooms,<br />

conference room, and coaches’ offices.<br />

The David J. Zuver Performing Arts<br />

Center, a complex where the intellectual, artistic,<br />

and aesthetic development of each student is<br />

realized, was opened in 2004. This multipurpose<br />

facility includes a 650-seat theater, practice<br />

rooms for chorus, band, and music, two art<br />

rooms, a dark room, and five classrooms.<br />

Mount de Sales was named a National<br />

Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 1991, the<br />

first and only private high school in Middle<br />

Georgia to receive this designation. In 2005,<br />

Mount de Sales became one of a select group of<br />

schools holding dual accreditation from both<br />

the Southern Association of Colleges and<br />

Schools and the Southern Association of<br />

Independent Schools.<br />

The Academy continues to create an<br />

environment which encourages all students to<br />

explore opportunities designed to help develop<br />

their fullest potential. Above all, Mount de Sales<br />

challenges its faculty, staff, and students to act with<br />

integrity and to work for justice. Mount de Sales<br />

students participate in a variety of service<br />

learning, charitable, and community outreach<br />

activities including Special Olympics and Ronald<br />

McDonald House.<br />

Present enrollment is 700 students in grades<br />

six through twelve with a faculty and staff of 92.<br />

The main campus is located at the corner of<br />

Orange and Columbus Streets in the Intown<br />

<strong>Historic</strong> District. The Cavalier athletic complex is<br />

located on seventy acres at 4659 Cavalier Drive<br />

and on the Internet at www.mountdesales.net.<br />
