The Big Jump - Transition Tales
All teachers and parents are aware that the move from primary to secondary school can be quite a demanding time for
children, and that is why here at Litherland High School we aim to ensure that we make the transition from Year 6 to Year 7 as
stress-free and smooth as possible.We will do our utmost to make sure students quickly settle into their new routines and
adapt to learning in a different environment.
We have established excellent working relationships with all local primary schools with our teachers visiting schools and
teaching in lessons in some schools. Students also get the chance to visit us here at LHS to take part in curriculum taster
sessions. All staff including our Year 7 Teachers, Head of Year and Assistant Head of Year have the experience of supporting
new students and their families through the transition process and we are always at hand to address individual queries and
concerns.
We have a Taster Day in July so that students can sample what life is like at LHS. We also have an Induction Evening where
new students and parents can find out all about school life at LHS. Litherland High provides an amazing extra-curricular
programme and actively promotes these opportunities to new and existing students as a platform for making new friends and
trying new things.
