Westfield Horticultural Society
In November’s Newsletter, we were delighted with the continued
summer weather but we’re definitely in mid-winter now!
We had a fun end to
our 2018, with two
special Christmas
events: one in crafts
and the other making
a wreath or garland,
some of the fabulous
results in the photo.
Big News! A New Look Show Schedule!
Some of you may have already received your copy of our ‘new look’ Show Schedule and
Handbook. We hope you enjoy having a browse through and start planning what you
can enter into the Spring Show in early April. The Westfield Shows are incredibly
special with their variety and range of entries. Mark the date in your calendar and
whether you are entering (go for it!) or admiring the talents of others, make sure you
come along.
Although the Shows are at the heart of the Horticultural Society, there is so much more
with an activity or event almost every month and flower workshop evenings, there is
something for everyone and everyone is welcome.
Important News
This is the fourth year Catherine Collingwood has been our Chairman, but she will be
standing down at the AGM in October. The committee who plan and prepare for the
events are an enthusiastic bunch of people who meet together regularly. If you are
interested in joining the committee or would like to try it out for size, get in touch and
come along to one of the committee meetings and see what we get up to.
Whatever you are doing in 2019, make sure it is with WHS!
Forthcoming Events:
Our year begins with the popular Valentine Quiz on Saturday 16 February.
On Tuesday 19 March 7 pm at the Bowl’s Club, we have a speaker evening, with the
popular Jacqueline Aviolet, who will tell us about life behind the scenes at "The Nursery".
There will also be refreshments, home-made cakes and plants for sale from Jacqueline's
Nursery. Be sure to note the date, 19 March, and book early as space is limited!
And don't forget to start planning what you may be able to exhibit at our
Spring Show, on Saturday 6 April at the Community Hall.
