But are your fears justifiable? Do you think the
cause of your anxiety or fear is justified? Or are
those worries just products of over-thinking?
Turn those negative what-ifs into positive what-ifs
If you cannot help but ask yourself certain what-ifs,
try to convert them to positive questions.
• What if I get on stage, deliver my speech well and
inspire so many people?
• What if I travel and learn a new culture?
• What if I go on a date and be asked for the next one?
programmed for that. Your body will also cooperate so
that you can get there.
• What if I get rich…?
• What if I succeed…?
• What if I reach my goal…?
Think of those possibilities. Form them in your mind. Let
the what ifs help you visualise and achieve your dreams. In
short, try to visualise the best case (not the worst) for every
situation.
Of course, sometimes, things can go south. But that’s
just a probability, not the 100% possibility.
Bring it on and say “So what!”
• What if I start a business and it does exceptionally
well?
• What if I accept this offer, improve my skills and
later be promoted?
The next time a negative ‘what-ifs’ comes to mind, you
can also use another technique – and that is to use the
brave phrase – “so what!”
“So what if that bad scenario really showed up?”
So when negative what-ifs enter your mind, try
to reverse them and think of positive outcomes
instead of the other way around.
Your brain is so brilliant that it can create just the most
horrible picture. When it does, you can also stand up,
face it with your chin up and say “so what?”
After all, using these what-ifs to think positive might
even serve as a great motivator to reach your goals and
become successful, as they can help you visualise the
great things you want coming your way.
It is like conditioning and feeding your mind with what
you want to achieve – and eventually, your brain will be
And then, think of a solution even if the problem
has not surfaced yet.
After all, this proactive attitude of making a contingency
plan beforehand can help you face the situation because
you are prepared with a conditioned mind. And you’re
NOT AFRAID.
