Name:
I am a Sikh, born and brought up in the Middle East. I earned a B.A. Accounting and
Finance degree from Heriot-Watt University (Dubai). I’m currently chasing my passion
as a turbaned fashion model. I’m also the founder of Fit Bhangra Abu Dhabi where
I train fitness dance routines. I also work in the events industry, often producing and
hosting advertising and branding events.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?
1. In your cultural dress?
My personal style in my cultural form would be the most popular traditional
wear of Punjab which is Kurta and Pyjama. Kurta is a long shirt with slashes on
both sides along with long sleeves. Pyjamas are loose baggy pants tied with a
drawstring. I wear my turban in various colours to match my pocket square and
jutti. The traditional dress of my culture includes the traditional shoes called
jutti. It is a type of handcrafted footwear typically associated with Punjabis. The
juttis have no left-foot or right-foot distinction and take the shape of the feet
over a period of time.
2. Outside cultural dress?
My personal style is smart casuals AND street style. Also, I am very fond of
adding special elements to my outfits like lapel pins, matching pocket squares,
suspenders, etc.
WHICH TWO ACCESSORIES ARE YOUR MUST-HAVES?
I am very fascinated by fashion accessories, but the two
must-have accessories for me are:
1 The Kara (a bangle) which is a symbol of unbreakable
attachment and commitment to God
2 A watch
