Two leading breeding operations dominated the fourth day of
the Kings Equestrian Centre in Herefordshire.
The top eventing colt and filly foals were both bred by the
Gauntlett’s Chescombe Eventing. Both foals were sired by
their homebred stallion Party Trick, the SHB(GB) Grading
Champion and son of the Badminton winner Chilli Morning.
The top score went to the filly foal out of the Fidertanz
daughter Fidelia. The judges commented on her balance and
ground cover awarding 9.25 for all three paces and a superb
9.75 for frame.
The colt foal was out of an Irish mare (Kinard Clare) who
has a strongly thoroughbred influenced pedigree. Her sire
is Watermill Swatch and her damsire Ghareed. Both are
important influences in Irish eventing breeding. He was
awarded his highest mark for the canter.
Woodlander Stud presented their own colt Million to earn
an Elite, and the highest colt score of the day. This dressage
prospect is a Trakehner son of the sensational Millenium and
is in fact line bred to Millenium’s granddam Mazurka Magica.
With his elastic trot and good reach of the forearm, he was
awarded 9.75 for his trot and 9.5 for canter.
Although Woodlander had not bred the top filly foal For Elise,
they have purchased her from breeder Rachel Crook. For Elise
is a daughter of the Woodlander stallion Franz Ferdinand,
the full brother of Farouche. Her dam Tamina is a daughter
of Totilas x Sandro Hit. The granddam Serenade is a State
Premium half sister to His Highness. The judges praised her
topline, and shoulder angle plus the powerful but elegant
paces, awarding a 9.5 for both walk and trot.

Sadly there were no show jumping youngsters presented by
this venue.
