Overall, the stallions and mares were<br />
grouped into regions resulting in 3<br />
Regional Stallion Champions and 4<br />
Regional Mare Champions. Both the<br />
Southern Stallion Champion Bennie<br />
Seymour’s DeLaRoche Black Gold<br />
(Hilkens Gold Card x Hilkens Black<br />
Delight) and the Southern Reserve<br />
Champion Pippa Drew & Amy Hose’s<br />
Hammerwood Ritz (Rembrandt DDH x<br />
Cavan Blue Hors) are <strong>British</strong>-bred and<br />
SPSS passported.<br />

On the SPSS Tour, 31 mares were graded<br />
with 9 achieving a Head Studbook score<br />
of 80% or more and 2 were awarded<br />
the sought after SPSS ELITE status<br />
as they have both competed in FEI<br />
international competitions. Both of<br />
these mares are <strong>British</strong>-bred. Vincent<br />
Jones’s It’s A Treasure (It’s The Business<br />
x unknown) was bred by Mrs Minton<br />
and competed at FEI Eventing in 2014<br />
and 2015 with Vincent’s granddaughter<br />
Emily Grace and she was presented<br />
for SPSS grading with a foal at foot by<br />
SPSS graded Connemara Killour Star.<br />
The other new Elite mare, Catherine<br />
Holdsworth’s Pepper (Goshka Ringo VII<br />
x unknown), was bred by Mrs D Duncalf<br />
and is still competing at FEI Driving.<br />
Indeed, Pepper came to the grading<br />
only a few weeks after becoming the<br />
Gold medal winning 2018 FEI Individual<br />
European Junior Driving Champion in<br />
Hungary driven by Catherine’s daughter<br />
Colette; adding to the Individual<br />
Bronze they won in 2016 when Colette<br />
was just 14.<br />
SPSS Success<br />
It’s been a great summer for SPSS<br />
passported ponies with much success<br />
including an SPSS passported foal,<br />
Damian Darbyshire’s Ghabar King<br />
of Bling (Hulst Mando x Pantygronw<br />
Deio), being the Sports Pony National<br />
Champion at the Elite Foals Final and<br />
the Reserve (Naomi Maxted-Massey’s<br />
MM Sweet Fancy (Chartstürmer<br />
WE x Scampi) and Second Reserve<br />
(Penny Walster’s Bathleyhills Vue<br />
Classique (Bathleyhills Monet x<br />
Batman) Champions are also both SPSS<br />
passported.<br />
SPSS passported Midnight (Hilkens<br />
Black Delight x Cassander), a nine year<br />
old bred by Carrie Passmore, won two<br />
international FEI Grade II Para-Dressage<br />
classes and was short-listed for GB’s<br />
World Equestrian Games para-dressage<br />
team with rider Georgia Wilson.<br />
Cruz & Jayne Turney - Kevin Sparrow (below)<br />
SPSS passported geldings Cruz (Caesar<br />
171 x Don Larino) and WFS Top Red (Top<br />
Yellow x Pilgrims Red) both won <strong>British</strong><br />
Dressage Regional Championships for<br />
their riders Jayne Turney and Emilia<br />
Nelson. Then at the Nationals, Jayne<br />
& 9 year old Cruz (bred by Rachel Silk)<br />
were Reserve Champions at Advanced<br />
Medium Silver and Emilia & 10 year old<br />
WFS Top Red (bred by Yvonne Wood &<br />
Sarah Steggall) and were 3rd at Medium<br />
Silver. All of these successful ridden<br />
horse/ponies as well as the three top<br />
Elite Foals have both an SPSS graded<br />
sire and dam & we wish to congratulate<br />
all their connections on these excellent<br />
results.<br />
