NEWS - BRITISH BRED HORSES IN COMPETITION

British Showjumping
National Championships
The British Showing National Championships were held
at Stoneleigh Park at the start of August and there were
a number of British bred successes. The young horse
championships are always hotly contested but sadly there
was only one British bred winner across the age groups.
This was the joint winner of the Horse First Supplements
National 4 year old Final - Miss Marcolus, ridden by Jessica
Botham. Bred by Sharon Barns, she is out of the Grade A
mare Miss Ramexico (Ramexico x Neroli) by Marcolas G.
Emma-Jo Slater partnered Kim Barzilay’s homebred five
year old Kimba Uttah to win the KBIS Insurance Senior
British Novice Championship. The pair won the Blue Chip
Discovery back in April. Kimba Uttah has impeccable
credentials being a son of a previous Blue Chip champion
in Uttah van het Indihof, a Heartbreaker daughter who
is turning into a very smart broodmare for owner Kim
Barzilay. She is also the dam of 2016 Foxhunter finalist
Kimba Flamenco (by Je T’Aime Flamenco) who together
with Billy Twomey won the Falsterbo Grand Prix
earlier this year.
Kimba Uttah
With a HOYS Newcomers ticket already in the bag, Lucy
Townley had nothing to lose in Senior Newcomers Master.
Riding the Billy Stud’s Billy Spiral, the pair clinched the
title with a brave jump off round. Their experience earlier
in the year in Spain, jumping in the international young
horse classes clearly stood them in good stead. Billy Spiral
is a 6 year old daughter of Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve out
of the Billy Mexico mare, Billy Spin.
In the National Grade B Championship, the only double
clear of the class was William Fletcher on the AES
registered Tiger Bright. Bred and owned by Diane Wilson,
the 10 year old mare is by the international star and
leading sire For Pleasure out of a mare by the British
based international competitor Animo. The National Under
21 title went to an on-form Oliver Fletcher and the AES
registered Temple Rebus. Bred by Jimmy Small by Temple
Tamability out of a Polydor mare, Oliver rode the chestnut
gelding at the 2016 Children on Horses European team.
