Livingstone delivers custom-designed building
Livingstone was delighted
to be appointed as the
main contractor by the
Hansa team on this design and
build, 2257sqm project. Early
engagement with the Hansa
team allowed Livingstone to
develop a clear design and
build path that incorporated all
of the client’s necessities into
the building, including aesthetics
and functionality.
The Livingstone team
set about delivering a custom-designed
and constructed
building using a collaborative
approach with the client and
provided a layout and materials
that were particularly unique
to the Hansa brand. Construction
spanned 10 months from
April 2018 to January 2019
and used approximately 7000
person hours.
Hansa set very clear design
and build directives with
brand fit, happy staff and a
functional layout all top priorities.
As part of satisfying that
brief, staff welfare was well
taken care of, and an onsite
staff gym, large lunchroom
and deck to soak up the sun
and enjoy their hard-earned
breaks were all incorporated
into the building.
A custom touch and wink
back to the brand and Hansa
product were the exterior
cladding timber walls located
on the front of the showroom
which tie in perfectly with
the brand and the high quality
chipper products Hansa is
famous for.
As main contractor, Livingstone
engaged and managed
up to 30 sub-contractors at any
one time, to achieve another
on-time, on-budget commercial
build that it has been
doing throughout Waikato and
New Zealand since 1947.
The Hansa design and build
project also allowed Livingstone
to showcase many of its
core skills and abilities as one
of Waikato’s best construction
companies. The layout
and design required a building
with a large prominent retail/
showroom area, commercial
offices on the first floor and
a large industrial-style warehouse
area where manufacturing
of Hansa’s world class
product takes place.
The prominent retail showroom
features large floor to
ceiling windows measuring
six metres high and 23 metres
long. In addition, the 350sq m
showroom features a polished
concrete floor which assists in
showcasing all of the excellent
product on offer at Hansa.
Another captivating feature
of the showroom is viewable
from the street frontage: the
front angled timber-cladded
walls act as a large picture
frame, which serves to further
highlight and give focus
to the products prominently
displayed in the showroom
window.
Livingstone is in no doubt
that the new Hansa building
serves both the present and
future aspirations of Hansa’s
domestic and international
business plans extremely well
and the building will serve
them for many years and chippers
to come.
