On 30 June an HRW report stated that US-made bombs were be<strong>in</strong>g used <strong>in</strong> attacks<br />

<strong>in</strong>discrim<strong>in</strong>ately target<strong>in</strong>g civilians and violat<strong>in</strong>g the laws of war. <strong>The</strong> report<br />

pho<strong>to</strong>graphed "the remnants of an MK-83 air-dropped 1,000-pound bomb made <strong>in</strong> the<br />

US".<br />

US Representative Ted Lieu has been publicly rais<strong>in</strong>g concerns over US support for<br />

Saudi-led war <strong>in</strong> Yemen. In March 2016, he sent a letter <strong>to</strong> Secretary of State John<br />

Kerry and Secretary of Defense Ash Carter. He wrote <strong>in</strong> the letter that the "apparent<br />

<strong>in</strong>discrim<strong>in</strong>ate airstrikes on civilian targets <strong>in</strong> Yemen seem <strong>to</strong> suggest that either the<br />

coalition is grossly negligent <strong>in</strong> its target<strong>in</strong>g or is <strong>in</strong>tentionally target<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>nocent<br />

civilians". Follow<strong>in</strong>g American concern about civilian casualties <strong>in</strong> the Saudi-led war <strong>in</strong><br />

Yemen, the US military <strong>in</strong>volvement is mostly <strong>in</strong>effective due <strong>to</strong> coalition's airstrikes<br />

target<strong>in</strong>g civilian and hospitals.<br />

In 2015 the United States deployed <strong>The</strong> Green Berets <strong>to</strong> assist the Saudi Arabian<br />

military with missile <strong>in</strong>terception.<br />

In September 2016, Sena<strong>to</strong>rs Rand Paul and Chris Murphy worked <strong>to</strong> prevent the<br />

proposed sale of $1.15 billion <strong>in</strong> arms from the US <strong>to</strong> Saudi Arabia. <strong>The</strong> US<br />

Senate voted 71 <strong>to</strong> 27 aga<strong>in</strong>st the Murphy–Paul resolution <strong>to</strong> block the US–Saudi arms<br />

deal. CNN's Wolf Blitzer questioned Sena<strong>to</strong>r Paul's reason<strong>in</strong>g dur<strong>in</strong>g an <strong>in</strong>terview,<br />

stat<strong>in</strong>g that cutt<strong>in</strong>g off military aid would hurt the profits of the arms <strong>in</strong>dustry. "So for you<br />

this is a moral issue," he <strong>to</strong>ld Sena<strong>to</strong>r Paul on CNN. "Because you know, there's a lot of<br />

jobs at stake. Certa<strong>in</strong>ly if a lot of these defense contrac<strong>to</strong>rs s<strong>to</strong>p sell<strong>in</strong>g war planes,<br />

other sophisticated equipment <strong>to</strong> Saudi Arabia, there's go<strong>in</strong>g <strong>to</strong> be a significant loss of<br />

jobs, of revenue here <strong>in</strong> the United States. That's secondary from your<br />
