Some of our favorite dishes – that are quite healthy in countenance
- were the Asian infused Seaweed and Raw Tuna with sesame
seeds. These dishes depend on their freshness and quality to
determine their inherent greatness. And, the Sundy House passed
this test with flying colors.
There are also food stations that surround the premises - from a
Carving station, Seafood Bar, Charcuterie and Salad Bar, Omelet Station,
Granola and Yogurt Station - as well as breads, French toast,
waffles, sauces, herbs and more.
One outstanding dish was the slow cooked Short Ribs with carrots,
rosemary and onion served with cheddar cheese grits. This flavorful
meaty treasure was so good it weighed in as an all time favorite.
Guests Roma Witten and Sandy Reyes were wowed as well. “The
ambience here is superb and the service is excellent. We loved the
lamb chops and crab legs. It was like being at a wedding and sitting
in a garden of Eden. We also loved that we were told we could stay
a while and enjoy the beautiful gardens; no one rushed us out,” said
the Delray duo.
When you come for Sunday Brunch your meal comes with a
choice of Mimosas, Bellinis, Champagne, Bloody Marys, white or
red Sangria or soft drinks. Not much can interfere with the delicacy
of Mother Nature’s greenery, live music and food from the Gods.
Before one bids adieu to the Sundy House, you must indulge in
some of the most delightful decadent desserts imaginable. They
have tiny chocolate mousse cakes with intoxicating toppings, white
chocolate mousse petit bites, cupcakes, mocha and chocolate petite
fours, and an ice cream bar to tantalize your taste-buds. It’s an endorphin
rush for sure.
That is the reason the Sundy House has been voted one of the
top outdoor brunches in the country. This comes as no surprise
if you’ve tried their Sunday brunch, Saturday brunch or dinner
(Tuesday through Sunday).
Last month they had 12 weddings on the premises because the
Sundy House is so beautiful. If romance were a flower – it would
bloom on the premises without water.
Saturday brunch is not a buffet, but the food is delicious. How do
Nutella French Toast Bites sound? Or Herb Sautéed Shrimp with
White Cheddar Grits, Chorizo Gravy and a Fried Egg? They also
have Eggs Benedict with homemade buttermilk biscuit (to die for),
Crab Cake and Potatoes, seared Duck Breast, a Yellow Fin Tuna
Poke bowl and more.
If you want to experience the mystical and magical presence of
earth’s most precious gifts, then dine at the Sundy House at night.
There are over 5000 plants, a quaint gazebo and waterfalls to seduce
your senses. When you sit outside you will be romanced by
twinkling lights that make Shangri-La look like a bus stop. It’s a
tropical paradise of epic proportion.
The dinner menu boasts a chilled seafood platter, Grilled Octopus,
Fisherman Cioppino (which is Grilled Lobster Tail, Clams, Mussels,
Shrimp, Fish and spicy tomato fennel broth), Branzino with
Saffron, tomato, olives and black rice, Seared Duck Breast, a Fig
Salad and other favorites.
This historic landmark was built in 1902 for the first Mayor of
Delray Beach, John Sundy. It has retained its historic cherished
roots and old Florida charm, which is why it is a popular wedding
destination. It’s commonplace to see brides and their guests smiling
with joyful anticipation roaming the premises.
There are five different rooms on the property for dining or parties.
Each has its own significant charm and unique assets. There
is the Mediterranean Room that gives you a picturesque view of
glorious gardens. The Star Bar has an outdoor patio nestled in the
garden with Grecian columns and a view of the outdoors. The Fresco
Room has large picture windows, a high wood beam cathedral
ceiling and ethereal painted walls.
The Sundy House is also the perfect place for a private party
or corporate event. It’s tranquil one-acre botanical garden, Guest
rooms, Restaurant, fresh water streams, lighting and foilage make
it everyone’s happy place. It is listed on the National Register of
Historic Places and is just one block from the action and attractions
of Delray Beach.
That is why the Sundy House is everyone’s favorite – whether
you are celebrating a wedding, a special event or just want to wander
into the wilderness of old Florida’s finest treasures.
