►The Secret Life of Pets 2 will follow 2016’s blockbuster about
the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day.
Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and his longtime
collaborator Janet Healy will produce the sequel to the comedy that
had the best opening ever for an original film, animated or otherwise.
The Secret Life of Pets 2 will see the return of writer Brian Lynch
(Minions) and once again be directed by Chris Renaud (Despicable
Me series, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax).
►X-Men: Dark Phoenix - X Men face their most formidable and
powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in
space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force.
Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more
powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her,
Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor
contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she
loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men
together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to
unite - not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from
aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.
►Men in Black: International - This one introduces us to two new
MIB members: Chris Hemsworth as Agent H, and Tessa Thompson
as Agent M. The plot involves them tackling the
“biggest, most global threat to date: a mole in
the Men in Black organization.” The cast also
includes Rebecca Ferguson, Kumail Nanjiani,
Rafe Spall, Laurent Bourgeois, Larry Bourgeois,
plus Emma Thompson and Liam Neeson.
►Shaft is the next chapter in the film
franchise featuring the coolest private
eye on any New York City block.
JJ, aka John Shaft Jr. (Usher),
may be a cyber security expert
with a degree from MIT, but to
uncover the truth behind his
best friend’s untimely death, he
needs an education only his dad
can provide. Absent throughout
JJ’s youth, the legendary
locked-and-loaded John Shaft
(Jackson) agrees to help his
►Anna - Beneath Anna
a secret that will unleash her
indelible strength and skill to
become one of the world’s most
feared government assassins. An electrifying thrill ride unfolding
with propulsive energy, startling twists and breathtaking action, Anna
introduces Sasha Luss in the title role with a star-studded cast including
Academy Award Winner Helen Mirren, Cillian Murphy, and Luke Evans.
►Child’s Play is an updated take on the Chucky horror franchise
about the evil doll who kills people. They’re keeping the original
name from the first series Child’s Play but updating everything and
re-introducing the Chucky doll as a high-tech toy called “Buddi,”
voiced by Mark Hamill. This is a little too creepy with how it connects
to everything in your home. Aubrey Plaza stars, with a cast including
Gabriel Bateman. Brian Tyree Henry, David Lewis, Ty Consiglio,
Beatrice Kitsos, and Kristin York.
►Pixar’s Toy Story 4 - When a new toy called “Forky” (Tony Hale)
joins Woody and the gang, a road trip alongside old and new friends
reveals how big the world can be for a toy… Pixar’s latest sequel looks
like it builds on the emotions in Toy Story 3, taking us on another
journey outside of their home. All the other regular voices are back:
Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Kristen Schaal, and Bonnie Hunt,
with newcomers Keegan Michael-Key and Jordan Peele, Keanu Reeves.
►Annabelle Comes Home - Determined to keep Annabelle from
wreaking more havoc, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren bring
the possessed doll to the locked artifacts room in their home, placing
her “safely” behind sacred glass and enlisting a priest’s holy blessing.
But an unholy night of horror awaits as Annabelle awakens the evil
spirits in the room, who all set their sights on
a new target - the Warrens’ ten-year-old
daughter, Judy, and her friends.
►Yesterday - One day everyone
wakes up and the entire world has
never heard of The Beatles. Except for
one guy, who becomes famous for
singing/playing all the classic
Beatles songs, because no one
knows that it isn’t him who
came up with all of this genius
work. As wild as that seems,
only Danny Boyle could pull
that off and he seems to have
done that. Himesh Patel (from
“EastEnders” and “Damned”)
stars in Yesterday, along with
Lily James, Kate McKinnon, Ed
Sheeran, Ana de Armas, Joel Fry,
and Camille Chen.
