Aqua Garden
Grow Your Own Food And Save The Planet
When you think of growing your own
herbs and vegetables you might think,
“but I don’t have a garden or farm.”
The good news is that you don’t need one – thanks to environmental
wunderkind Mason Silvia.
Mason has devised a system that is ecologically sound and
relatively easy. As the CEO of Seventh Generation Solutions, Mason
has created growing systems that fit in small (or large) spaces inside
or outside your home. They not only create a calm Zen feel, but
you can grow your own veggies and herbs right in your own home.
There is a small system – called the Mini Garden that grow
herbs, and larger systems that can grow enough veggies to feed
your entire family.
The logistics are sound yet revolutionary. An Aquaponic system
starts out with a grow bed (in various sizes), an LED light and a fish
tank. The fish nitrates fertilize the plants, and the water from the
grow bed sustains the plants (herbs and veggies).
It’s the perfect symbiotic relationship – with the plants serving
as an organic filter for the water. There is no need for soil and the
space it takes to grow a garden is minimal.
Aqua Garden is also focused on creating luxury systems custom-built
for your home. This allows you to decide where you
want your system, how large it should be, and which one fits into
your lifestyle and décor.
“We can put grow beds on pipes outside or in your living room.
With hydroponic growing methods, we can create a koi pond (inside
or outdoors) and put the grow bed anywhere you want. The
water feeds the plants by way of pumps (that can be hidden) and
the system is self- cleaning,” said Mason.
The best part is that there are no pesticides, the herbs and produce
taste better, and you can grow veggies year around. Instead of
Farm to Table, this momentum is more like Aqua-Farm to Table. It
works like Mother Nature intended it to be.
Since this concept is very new – and incredibly important in
keeping sustainability on the planet – Aqua Garden is offering free
workshops. In a recent workshop guests were given seedlings and a
grow bed so they could learn how to create their own aqua garden.
“We had 20 people come to our showroom and make their own
aquaponic system. It was a hands-on event. We showed everyone how
to make their own grow bed and add seedlings to create a system
with no soil,” said Mason, who spearheaded these hands-on seminars.
