Oversteer: Letter from the Editor

Tangent alert. If you came here for a pithy rebuke of
electric cars, or a semi-relatable story about shade tree
auto mechanics, I have some sad news for you. If instead,
you are reading this because you are the type that reads
magazines cover to cover and you do the honorable thing
and read the musings printed here in spite of my attempts
at above, thank you in advance.
In light of the joker that was named Mav of the Month,
I feel the need to applaud those that really help keep this
publication in your mailboxes. I am incredibly grateful for
our board members and volunteers. I compelled to tell you
about a few of them and ask for your help.
First and foremost, Carey Spreen keeps me honest and
does the proof reading, grammar and editing of the stories.
Without his help, you’d get your copy of Slipstream on
the 29th of the month. A former editor himself, he is an
invaluable resource that I could not do without. I cannot
say thank you enough Carey.
You’ll most likely recognize Bill Kruder from planning,
running or sometimes just enjoying our many great events.
He’s everywhere, usually with a cigar and a big floppy hat.
But he’s also a monthly contributor taking time each month
to get to know our members and tell their story. If you’ve ever
spoken to him, you’ll know why he’s tailor made for this type
of thing. Thanks Bill!
If you enjoy Maverick Marktpreis, please let Peter Wen
know about it. I know I always look forward to seeing what
model he’s highlighting for the coming month and keeping my
collector mind racing. Peter, my wife thanks you too.
David Tierney is our ad designer and he is responsible for
the wonderful club ads that you see each month in Slipstream
and on the web keeping us all informed about the upcoming
events with style. Thanks David!
We’ve got so many great photographers and contributors
that I almost never run out of things to bring you each month.
Almost. Now for the telethon moment. If you’ve taken a drive,
trip or ill-fated stab at refreshing your ride and think others
might enjoy hearing about it, I’ve got a tip for you. They would.
Or if you’ve been shooting photos at an event or just like taking
pictures in your driveway and are particularly proud of some
of them, sent them in. I know I would love to hear about a
garage story gone right for a change. Enjoy the drive.
