OFF THE WALL
CAUGHT ON CAMERA
With this fruit I thee rob
As we all know, CCTV has a real value in the
fight against crime, however once in a while it
captures the public doing something that is
perhaps not altogether sensible or it catches a
real one-off moment. Here we look at some
footage that made headlines recently…
Don’t watch her, watch me!
According to reports, a robber made off with
almost $8,000 from two Israeli banks after
holding them up armed with an avocado. The
man struck in May demanding money. When
the Postal Bank worker hesitated, the man
pulled out what he said was a grenade and threatened to
throw it if she refused. When captured the fruit threat was
exposed. Unfortunately the full CCTV has not been released.
It’s always worth having an exit strategy when
it comes to being a criminal yet the distraction
technique used by this pair of shoplifters got
them noticed right across the globe. While one
walks out with an estimated $377 worth of
clothes, the other ‘twerks’ to catch the eye of security guards
at the Florida store. A sight to make eyes sore.
Pizza with added ‘topping’
How far two people would go to avoid paying
for a £7 lunch was revealed by the Daily Mail
as CCTV footage taken at The Peacock in
Sunderland showed two women placing a
strand of hair onto a pizza. Initially staff apologised and gave
the women a refund on the lunch as well as a round of drinks,
but staff became suspicious when they realised the hair
didn’t match anyone working at the pub. The pub’s owners
Pub Culture slammed the ‘cynical stunt’ caught on camera.
Man’s best friends to the rescue
During this armed robbery attempt in Argentina
in May, a man is held up by two men outside
his house before his two boxer dogs come to
the rescue and chase off the assailants.
Despite being fired at, the dogs send the failed
robbers packing and return to a relieved owner. No doubt the
plucky pair got extra treats and fuss that night!
