Lifestyle inspired care home
successfully protected
Northern Ireland’s first ‘lifestyle inspired care
home’ is being protected by C-TEC’s lifesafety
systems.
Designed by Bailie Associates, installed by
Turner Electrical NI and supplied and
commissioned by Fire NI, the systems provide
protection for residents and staff at Milesian
Manor care home in Magherafelt.
Communication between patients and staff
is facilitated by a Quantec addressable call
system tailored to meet the Home’s
requirements. Each bedroom is equipped with
a call point and patients have their own tail
call leads with which to call for assistance. In
addition, bed and chair exit mats have been
installed in day rooms, bedrooms and lounges to
alert staff immediately should a patient leave their
bed or chair. Door entry/exit monitoring systems

Garrard Windows
Amthal has worked with Garrard Windows to
install smart CCTV systems for its showroom and
factory site, to provide protection for staff,
customers and premium products in storage.
Manufacturing around 2,500 products a
week, to ensure the security of products and
supply on site, Gerrard Windows called upon
Amthal to enhance its security and install CCTV
systems throughout its factory and show room
site.

lighting for new development
The Urmet Group has supplied video door entry
and lighting solutions for The Denham Film
Studios, a £120 million development by Weston
Homes, consisting of 154 apartments and 70
townhouses.
Bordering the Grade II-listed film studio
building is Miles House; three new apartment
buildings spread over four storeys, providing a
total of 105 new homes. For a number of these

system is one of C-TEC’s ZFP 4-loop addressable

interface, the panel can easily be accessed by

emergency voice communication/disabled
refuge system has also been fitted within the
stairwells so that, in an emergency, residents
who cannot easily use fire escapes can call for
assistance and wait until help arrives.

control for video entry, concierge call with chat
facility and lighting control using the Max Pro 7”
touchscreen.
The remaining apartments have been fitted
with video entry devices from the Urmet range,
while an Urmet IP cloud-based access control
system has been installed site-wide to secure
communal entrances. The townhouse plots also
feature lighting control via the Urmet Max
touchscreen. The Max Pro touchscreen is
powered by Android, using apps to allow
integration to other systems, such as lighting,
heating, energy display and concierge services,
including parcel delivery notification and amenity
booking.
In addition to the access control technology
within the apartments, Yokis digital radio micro
modules have been installed on every switched
lighting circuit creating a home automation
solution.
