2.1 Formation of Kondagaon As per the announcement made by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Raman Singh, on the occasion of Independence Day 2011, 9 revenue districts were formed in the state. One of the 9 districts is the Kondagaon District, which came into existence on January 1, 2012. The whole of Kondagaon district is spread over a total of 368783 hectares. It touches Kanker and Dhamtari in the north, Bastar in the east, Narayanpur in the west and Dantewada district in the south. Fig. 2.1 Bastar District used to include Kanker, Dhamtari, Bastar, Narayanpur and Dantewada in 2012. Now it has been separated in various revenue districts.
