Evangelization is for All Ages
My brothers and
sisters in Christ,
as summer comes
to a close and we prepare
ourselves for the first day
of classes, we typically prepare
mentally. Whether it
is the first day of middle
school or your first year in
high school or your first
year in college, you also
need to prepare on a spiritual
level.
And so, you might ask:
how do I prepare for a new school
year?
You will probably buy new
clothes, supplies, books, or maybe
even a new computer or iPad.
These are the things we do to prepare
ourselves for a task that we are
about to take on in our lives.
How do you prepare yourselves
to evangelize for Jesus Christ? How
did the apostles prepare themselves
some 2000 years ago to evangelize?
Jesus tells them in Matthew
28:19 “go therefore, and make disciples
of all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I
have commanded you. And behold,
I am with you always, until the end
of age.” Jesus gives them mission he
tells them to “go and make.”
This message or this commandment
of Jesus Christ was not just
for the 12 apostles but for every
one of every age and especially the
youth in today’s world. It is very
important to take the word of God
to your peers and the people who
are of your own age. I know you’re
probably saying to yourself ‘I will
be an outcast’, ‘they will make fun
of me’, ‘they might bully me or they
might call me a Jesus freak.’ Well,
they did all those things to our
Lord and savior, so who are we not
to do that for the kingdom? The
call to evangelize is not limited to
the Pope, bishops, priest, or deacons,
this call is for every baptized
Christian to go out and spread the
good news of the gospel.
So, what do we do to prepare
ourselves to evangelize? The first
thing that must be done is prayer.
We must pray to the Holy Spirit
that He will open our minds and
hearts and guide us into all truth.

Second, we must read
scripture; start with just a
few verses each day. And
finally, you need to trust,
and I mean fully trust and
have confidence in Jesus
Christ. He tells us hundreds
of times in the Bible
“do not be afraid.” So, go
out talk about Jesus. Tell
everyone what great things
he has done for you, show
them why he came, tell
people about Catholicism
and how it was the one church that
Jesus Christ founded. Tell them
how the secular world and media is
lying to us about abortion, same sex
marriage, etc. The fullness of truth
lies in the Catholic church only. If
you are not good with preaching in
words then preach your good works
or in your good deeds that you do

for other people. Treat everyone
with gentleness, kindness, and love
and then everyone will know you
are disciples of Jesus Christ.
My brothers and sisters in
Christ, St. Paul says in Galatians
2:20, “It is no longer I that live but
Christ who lives in me.” If Christ
truly lives in you then you will be
on fire for Jesus, the Gospel, and
the truth.
