Rossland
Sky High
Tucked high in the Monashee
mountains, Rossland is set on
the slopes of an ancient volcanic
valley. This mountain town has
a turbulent history of ambition
and mighty feats that make you
wonder if the relatively thin air
(altitude 1,039 m) brings out the
hardcore in people’s nature.
Today, Rossland’s population of
3,729 is half what it once was,
but despite the 20th century,
there are no still no traffic lights or
sprawling malls. The population
spikes in the winter with the influx
of skiers and snowboarders, but
during spring and summer, there
are festivals and lots more. Visit
the City of Rossland, an (almost)
grown-up village, and find out
what living in a mountain town is
all about!
As always, the Follies will be
“the girl next door”, and a real flying
steamshovel! And as always,
there will be some rip-roaring,
high-kicking cancan entertainment!
It’s sure to entertain adults
Fun at Thin Air
Thin Air is a disc golf course and
it’s 18 ‘holes’ of fun. Playing here
gets you outside in a spectacular
place and will make you feel like
a kid again – or maybe your kids
will show what they’ve got that
(maybe?) you need again. Best of
all, it’s free to play!
The disc golf course is at the
Blackjack Ski area, 5 km or so up
Hwy 22 from the Visitor Centre
and Rossland Museum. You can
buy your discs and pick up a
brochure explaining the course
and how to play at the Seven
Summits Service and Hardware,
which is just across the road from
the museum.
