Still plenty of recreation this summer

The dog days of August are
fast approaching, but there is
still plenty of summer yet to
be had when it comes to the
Lynnfield Recreation summer
programs.
Spots are still available on a
space-available basis for four
upcoming Rec-Venture Week
10 day trips.
The trips are open to children
entering grades three and up.
Kids entering grades nine and
10 are also welcome and will
have the opportunity to stay in
the group of their choice.
All buses depart from and
return to the Lynnfield Middle
School.
Trips may be changed or canceled
due to weather or limited
enrollment.

TreeTop Adventures will be
held Monday, Aug. 19 from 9
a.m.-4 p.m in Canton. TreeTop
Adventures is a high ropes and
obstacle course featuring trails
with zip-lines for beginners to
expert alike.
Obstacles include rolling
logs, bridges, ladders, tight
ropes, zip-lines and more.
Campers should bring their
own lunch and water or money
to buy snacks/lunch. Closed-toe
shoes such as sneakers of other
closed-toed hiking shoes are
recommended. Sandals, ballet
flats, Crocs, or flip-flops are
prohibited. Comfortable athletic
wear or jeans are recommended.
The cost of the trip is
$75.
The annual Rockport/Beach
trip will be held Tuesday,
Aug. 20 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Participants will spend the day
exploring Rockport before
heading to the beach.
Children need to bring the
following: bathing suit, towel,
sunblock, spending money and
either a bagged lunch or money
to purchase lunch. The cost of
the trip is $45.
On Wednesday, Aug. 21 Rec-
Venture travels to Malden for a
day at Boda Borg and Park from
9 a.m.-4 p.m. for a day of real-world
gaming and questing.
Participants will compete in
teams of three to five people
who will tackle a variety of
mental and physical challenges.
The day promises to be full of
adrenaline and heart-pumping
excitement.
Comfortable athletic wear or
jeans are recommended. The
cost of the trip is $75.

The final Rec-Venture trip
will be Thursday, Aug. 22 at
Boundless Adventure in Berlin,
MA. Campers will be treated to
a fun-filled day (9 a.m.-4 p.m.)
of zip-lining and tree climbing
on age-, height-, and fitness-appropriate
obstacle courses.
Sneakers or other comfortable
closed toe shoes and athletic-type
attire are mandatory.

The Lynnfield High cross
country team will be holding
a preseason meeting for new
runners and their parents on
Wednesday, Aug 21 at 6 p.m. in
front of the entrance to the high
school gymnasium. Practice
and meet schedules and team
rules will be discussed. The
meeting will be conducted by
head coach Joe DiBiase and
team captains.
All new runners are encouraged
to attend.
