Our key accomplishment since then is that most Community Support Services programs and services continued beyond June 30 without interruption. Sophia Podrozny returned in July to restart the Cook and Eat Together program at 387/411 Waterloo Avenue and will be starting another group at 232 Delhi Street/33 Marlborough Road this month. The rest of CSS staff have agreed to continue in their present positions. Thank you to all CSS clients, volunteers and staff for your patience and incredible commitment during this transition. For more information about CSS’ coming plans, please read the CSS update by Program Manager Maryanne Wilford elsewhere in The Sentinel. The Community Benefits Agreement that guides the collaboration between the City of Guelph and the GWSA is well on its way to completion. Thank you to Cem Kaner, Mike Woof, Roger Stevens and Ross Knechtel for their efforts on this crucial task. Wendy Kornelson and Adam Rutherford represented the City of Guelph in our discussions. We are waiting for final review by City lawyers, but we are optimistic we will have a favourable outcome and the long-standing collaboration between the City and GWSA will continue. The GWSA’s Annual General Meeting was held June 25. Thank you to all members who attended the meeting and elected our new Board members: Brian Smith, Cem Kaner and Bill MacDonald. One of the first tasks a new Board has is to organize itself and elect officers. This year’s officers will be: Becky Fiedler, President; Brian Smith, Vice-President; and Roger Stevens, Treasurer. City employees Tonie Sacchetti and Samantha Ferrier were appointed to share the role of Secretary. Athar Khan and Adam Rutherford (Manager, Senior Services) will serve on the Executive Committee and Judith Carson is stepping in as Past-President. The balance of the Board includes Ken Fugler, Mike Woof, Ann Grant and Board veterans, Kerry Detlor and Ross Knechtel. Please be sure to let us know how we’re doing if you see us. You can use the Contact Us page on the website to send us messages and share ideas. All of us owe a special thank you to Jean McClelland for six years of service on the Board of Directors. GWSA by-laws impose a sixyear limit on a Director’s term but that won’t limit Jean’s ongoing contributions to our organization. She will continue guiding many of us through her work on the Program Committee, Travel Committee, Membership and Marketing Committee and Into Focus Photography club. Did you see the Annual Report published at the AGM? If not, you can pick up a copy at the front desk of The Evergreen Centre while supplies last. You can also view it online from the GWSA website. Many people contribute to preparing the Annual Report. GWSA’s dedicated Committee Chairs provide leadership all year as well as prepare their reports for your review. Thank you to Kerry Detlor, NOTE: Disclaimer—The Sentinel and the GWSA do not necessarily agree with or support statements in the Sentinel made by advertisers, or submissions by writers.
