A word from the Principal...
Welcome,
Incredibly, we are already at the midpoint of the first half term!
We have had a really strong start to the year, with a number of new and exciting events
taking place. Last week was the first time we have taken a group of children to the Climate
Change Strike in Penzance. It was a fantastic opportunity for children who have already been
proactive in this area to contribute and feel like they are part of something much bigger than
just a small group at school. The event was really well supported and the participation of the
children was widely appreciated by fellow strikers and members of the community.
We have also held elections and announced the new responsibilities for the upcoming year.
These include, Head Boy and Girl and Deputies, School Parliament Members, Team Captains,
Librarians and ICT monitors. Many of these roles, required children preparing speeches and
delivering them to a large audience of children and/or adults. We are very proud of all the
children who put themselves forward and demonstrated such determination and bravery.
This week we also welcomed headteachers from across Leading Edge (St Hilary, Mounts Bay
Academy and Fowey River Academy) and CEO, Sara Davey, to our school. They spent a morning
visiting all of the classes and were really impressed with the learning environment and the
provision offered. I will share the formal feedback from this visit in the next newsletter.
Your children may have told you that the new play equipment is being installed this week and
next. Once completed, it will really add an extra element to our outside space and provide
more opportunities for physical and exploratory play. The FLS are also moving forward with
their plans to develop the adjacent area to provide a quiet and sociable space for children to
read, draw and relax.
You will see that one page of this newsletter is entirely dedicated to dates. We have tried
to provide you with as many of the major dates for the whole year as we can at this point.
Please be aware that there will be more events added as we go through the year and some of
the listed dates may change as circumstances do.
