BOOT HILL CEMETERY Powderville, southeast of Miles City GPS coordinates: 45.759375 | -105.124321 Commemorates Site Location Installed July 4, 1976 Wording Cemetery at Deadwood Crossing, the old stage crossing of Powder River from Fort Keogh to Fort Meade One mile north of Powderville, 60 miles southeast of Miles City “Boot Hill Cemetery 1870 Deadwood Crossing Erected by Powder River Chapter DAR July 4, 1976” HISTORY The July 4, 1976, marker dedication was a bicentennial salute by the Powder River Chapter, NSDAR. The chapter said, “We, Powder River Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, join with this community in establishing a marker on this historic site.” DAR and the Powderville community held a ceremony at 4:30 p.m. to dedicate a bronze plaque on native sandstone on the historic route. 139
