Montana's DAR Markers . . . Honoring Where History Was Made

This book is a 200-page thank you to the women of Montana State Society Daughters of the American Revolution for their work in placing historical markers across the state of Montana. Starting in 1908, Montana DAR has installed 70 historical markers across the state. Of those, 33 remain. This book records why the markers’ sites were selected, their history, and the backstory of each.

HISTORY
MSSDAR’s 2019 State Conference, held April 25-27, celebrated
the 125 th Anniversary of DAR’s founding in Montana. Since the
Montana SAR was also founded in Montana in 1894, the two
maple tree on the State Capitol grounds next to a plaque inset in
concrete.
A crowd of about 100 DAR and SAR members attended the 4:15
pm ceremony on April 25. The dedication began with a SAR Color
Guard made up of four Montana State Society SAR members: Steve
Armstrong (drummer, MTSSAR Vice President and Glacier Chapter
SAR), Keith Kramlick (Vice President, Guardian Chapter SAR), Doug
Fraser (Guardian Chapter SAR), and T.C. Richardson (MTSSAR
