GIANT SPRINGS Six miles northeast of Great Falls GPS coordinates: 47.5339 | -111.2299 Commemorates Discovery of Giant Fountain by Captain Clark, June 18, 1805 Site Location Giant Springs State Park (off Highway 87, 1 mile east on River Dr. to Giant Springs Rd.) Installed May 30, 1928 Wording “Lewis and Clark on their historic expedition to the Pacific Coast discovered this giant fountain June 18-1805. In honor of the courage, fidelity and patriotism of the explorers this tablet is here placed and dedicated by Black Eagle Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution Great Falls, Montana May 30-1928” HISTORY This DAR marker, consisting of a bronze tablet sized 26 by 30 inches inset to a six-ton boulder set on a concrete base, was dedicated on Memorial Day 1928 by Black Eagle, NSDAR Chapter.
