NEW MATERIALS
WAREHOUSE UNDER
CONSTRUCTION AT
FUCHS
Construction of a £5m raw
materials warehouse with
4,000 pallet spaces is underway
at FUCHS Lubricants’
Staffordshire headquarters.
The warehouse is the latest
step in a £10million
investment programme at
FUCHS UK, which has also
seen the introduction of a
range of innovative manufacturing
plant machinery
and a new multi-line pallet
loading robot arm.
Building work began in
August and the framework
structure and roof have now
been completed, the external
cladding is now well underway.
The fully automated High
Bay warehouse is due for
completion in the second
quarter of 2020 and will
significantly increase the
amount of raw materials the
business can store on-site.
Its construction will also
allow an existing building to
become a specialist packaging
warehouse.
Mark Gray, Head of Operations
said: “We have an
ambition to place FUCHS
Lubricants at the forefront
of R&D, manufacturing and
distribution of lubricants in
the UK.
“This raw materials warehouse
represents a significant
investment for the
business, and a further step
towards that goal.
“The warehouse includes
sophisticated automation,
which will future-proof the
business and create costsaving
benefits.”
Two wire guided driverless
Very Narrow Aisle trucks will
operate in the warehouse,
benefitting from high travel
and lift speeds, without operator
intervention.
The warehouse has a capacity
of approximately
4,000 pallet spaces, with
ability for automatic or manual
storage place allocation.
The high-tech Warehouse
Control and Warehouse
Management Systems
streamline the process, with
benefits including goods receipt
entry and booking, a
paperless put away process,
inventory support and batch
traceability.
DAYCO ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT
(OE) DAMPER PULLEYS OFFER PROFIT
OPPORTUNITIES FOR WORKSHOPS!
Extensive Range – Includes Bolts
Where Needed
MODERN powerplants are highly engineered
to deliver the optimum combination of
power and torque, alongside fuel efficiency
and minimal exhaust emissions. This
objective often comes at the cost of high
levels of engine vibration, which is generally intensified by
the significant pressures present in the engine’s combustion
chambers, an occurrence especially prevalent with diesel
units.
This vibration is transmitted through the crankshaft and
therefore has a significant impact on the engine’s power
transmission drive systems. To reduce this problem, Dayco
engineers have developed a range of damper pulleys, with
the prefix DPV.
Over time dampers can lose their efficiency, increasing
the risk of failure in other parts of the engine’s drive
systems.
Workshops can profit by checking for signs of wear at
40,000-mile intervals or when replacing the auxiliary belt.
Technicians must be aware however, that in order to
check the damper correctly, it needs to be removed from
the engine because the back, as well as the front needs
to be examined to fully assess its condition. Whatever its
condition though, Dayco suggests they are changed every
time the timing belt is replaced. In addition, whether it
needs to be replaced or not, if its fixing bolts are designed
to stretch on initial fitment, these must be changed, as they
will no longer meet their design tolerances if reused.
For maximum convenience and to ensure the highest
standards are maintained during its installation, each
damper in the 160 plus-strong Dayco range that technically
also requires its bolts to be replaced, comes complete with
the correct specification bolts.
This assurance and the 95% vehicle parc coverage the
programme provides, makes Dayco DPVs the ultimate
choice for the discerning workshop.
