SuperCup series is that it is a very friendlyand inclusive paddock. They don’t careif you are a complete beginner or havebeen racing for 20-plus years. They aregrateful to have you in the championshipand are always willing to jump in and lenda helping hand if you run into problemswith your car. It’s the opposite of cutthroatracing that you find at the higherlevels of the sport. The most importantthing is about having fun and being partof a community.If you’re still reading this, it may meanyou have a motorsport itch that needsscratching, which leads me on to my lastpoint today:It’s never too late to start a racing careerOf course, the boat may have sailed with yourchances of making it onto the Formula 1 grid andracing Lewis Hamilton, but that’s not to say you can’tfulfil your dream of going racing.Maybe you never had the funds to start racing whenyou were younger? Maybe family commitments inyour 20s or 30s kept you from pursuing your dream?Now that you find yourself in your 40s, 50s or even60s, you may think it’s too late to start racing? There are dozens of championships in the UKthat are geared towards low-budget amateurs whoput the emphasis on fun, affordable racing.The MX5 Championship is a great championshipto get involved with, but there are plenty more outthere. A great resource to find information is theMotorsportuk.org website. There you can find outabout everything from how to obtain your first racinglicence to tips on finding the right championship foryou.
