Tasha Yip has a great eye for ‘what’s hot and what’s not’.

Sandra Oh was born in Ontario, Canada to South Korean parents. Among her many achievements on stage and screen,
she has particularly achieved international acclaim for her roles in the medical drama series, Grey’s Anatomy, and more
recently for her outstanding performance as Eve Polastri in the BBC America spy drama, Killing Eve. “As Sandra has a long
face shape, curly hair with volume and micro fringe suit her very well,” comments Tasha. “She could also try variations in
her style, but going chin-length and adding soft waves or even a Hollywood wave. On the colour front, she really looks great
with the golden-brownish highlights, which help to energise her look and make it more fresh and candid.”

Tasha Yip’s conscientious work ethic and attention to detail makes her a highly regarded and
well-respected member of the Goldwell Hong Kong Artist Team. She won the National Gold
winner of Partner Category in Color Zoom Challenge 2019 for the Hong Kong & Macau region:
“Taking part in the Color Zoom Challenge was a truly amazing experience for me,” commented
Tasha. “The competition really helped me to focus my mind and apply my colourist skills to their
greatest capacity.” With over 16 years of salon experience and expertise, Tasha's hair speciality is
innovative hair cut and colour.

to chin-length & adding softer curls”

Contemplating
beauty
A photographer based in New York, Laura Okita shoots
portraits that reflect a pictorial dimension: with light,
textured details, and vibrant colour. Daniela Giambrone
12 photography
A degree in anthropology from the University of Colorado, a past career as a model, and currently a professional
beauty photographer. And one peculiarity: in this digitalized era Laura Okita shoots photographs on a medium
format film. Her past as a model left her with some special sensitivity as a photographer that enables her to
approach the faces of her subjects with audacity, as well as an equal amount of delicacy. To burn onto the film an
unusual take on beauty. “Culture and society have always sought to define parameters and specifications for beauty,
but the truth is that they are never constant and are evolving continuously.” This is why she is convinced that each
and every element of a look is important: “Hair, make-up, garments, light, all come together to create the shot, the
success of which depends on the model, the inspiration of the moment, and the concept that I want to convey.”
For this whole influenced by so many variables, Laura insists that the entire team be on the same page: “Each
professional has their own way of interpreting the concept. I think that knowing the style of each one is essential
to be able to visualize the look before it is created.”
“Art is a great source
of inspiration for
me,” reveals Laura.
“The imagination
that is freed in the
picture can become a
reality through the
hair and the
make-up. The
texture and colours
of a painting are
translated perfectly
by a hair look and
make-up.”

Almost 3.000 guests came together in the Austrian capital city
of Vienna to experience Global Zoom, which as always was a
spectacular celebration of the KAO Salon Division family and its
creative and technical achievement over the previous 12 months.
The autumn sun shone beautifully over the Austrian capital for the entire
weekend of Kao Salon Division's spectacular Global Zoom celebration.
Visitors from around the world were excited to learn that this is the last year
that this annual event and the Color Zoom Challenge will take place in their
current format. John Moroney, Vice President Creative & Communication at
Kao Salon Division, explained that the 2019 Color Zoom collection would be
the last one: “This year we’re launching the 2020 Goldwell Couture Collection
–Intrepid– as our creative and fashion statement, elevating and expanding it
across all brand visual communication, including education,” he explained.
“This new collection is fearless, bold and daring. The creative team has
created a collection with pure lines, round shapes and disconnections where
colour becomes gender-neutral, going beyond conventions and expectations.
The Couture Collection produces couture inspiration, while from a more
salon-style perspective, the 2020 Editorial Collection –Go Beyond– reflects
the couture trend with a commercial, editorial edge.
On Sunday, September 29, John Moroney (Vice President Creative & Communication) opened the Global Zoom Event 2019. The
Welcome Session started directly with the first highlight: the announcement of Goldwell’s annual Style Statement for 2020: HAIR
I COLOR I STYLE. Directly after the Welcome Session, the Community Area opened its doors and the Academy Sessions started.
The inspiring Artist Sessions give
guests from all over the world the
opportunity to experience excellent
mastery of their craft. Mario Krankl
presented his up-dos and avant-garde
styles to open the Gala Show on
Sunday evening; Hare & Bone and M&P,
both highly accomplished salon groups
from London, presented the world
premiere of their latest collection; led
by the Goldwell international artist,
Sascha Haseloff, icono presented their
latest collection and showed why
they are one of the top hairdressing
academies in Europe.
The Global Zoom weekend ended
with a fantastic farewell party
in the mesmerising and opulent
surrounds of the Hofburg Palace
in the heart of Vienna (see left
and below); a fitting conclusion to
what proved to be a memorable
and awe-inspiring weekend.
Guests assembled in the Reed Messe auditorium in Vienna as excitement escalated towards the announcement
of this year’s Color Zoom Challenge winners. Hairdressers were participating in 3 different categories - Partner,
Creative & New Talent, demonstrating the current Goldwell Color Zoom Collection - REMIX. All 91 national finalists
from 38 different countries competed live. The Gold winners: J Lim from Singapore, New Talent category- for young,
creative colourists with less than five years of professional experience; Irakli Sardalishvili from Russia, Creative
category - for colour creations by stylists with 5 years’ experience; Yuujin Ho from Singapore, Partner category -
for colour creations from stylists who have worked for Goldwell in the last 2 years at shows or at seminars.
STYLISTS’ FAVORITE AWARD
Richard Munslow from UK (Partner
category) won the Stylists’ Favorite
Award, together with Courtney
Cairns from UK (New Talent
category) and Lauren Roma Hanlon
from UK (Creative category). These
are a set of awards linked to the
Color Zoom Challenge. The unique
feature is that anyone, anywhere in
the world, can participate via an
online platform and is able to choose
their favourite entry from all of the
National Gold Winners.
The success for Team Asia didn't end with their outstanding
achievement in the Gold Awards: six more very talented artists
were honoured and delighted to scoop their Bronze and Silver
Awards with no fewer than four of them coming from Asian
countries: Gzno Ooi from Malaysia won the Silver Award in the
New Talent category; Van Dong Luong from Vietnam won the
Silver Award and Fish Lai from Taiwan won the Bronze Award
in the Creative category; Van Ha Hoang from Vietnam won the
Silver Award in the Partner category. All in all, the fact that
the supremely talented teams representing Asia won a total of
six awards across the three categories is nothing less than an
incredible achievement, as well as a tribute to Asian successes
at the Color Zoom Challenge over the past 13 years.
Goldwell also announced that the Global Zoom event will be
reimagined and rebranded next year as KAO Salon Global
Experience, featuring the new Global Creative Awards and it's
going to be held in Amsterdam (Netherlands). It's never too early
to start making your plans!

GOLDWELL’S NEW
2020 Style Statement
In the same way as consumers look to fashion designers to
set the next season's trend scene, stylists and colourists need
the information source available to them. For this reason,
the Goldwell Creative Team got together with the 2018
Color Zoom Challenge winners to create a completely new
hair fashion statement for 2020: the Goldwell Editorial and
Couture Collections. "Our new style statement for 2020 is
comprehensive, encompassing all of Goldwell, from commercial
to couture," explains John Moroney, Vice President Creative &
Communication. "It gives all the information you need to not only
stay ahead of the latest fashion, but go beyond it."

look at any time - Goldwell calls it 'style at the speed
of life'! Go Beyond transcends ordinary colour with cool
shades - elumenated with clever combinations of cools and
warms and experiments with bold, gender-neutral tones. It
rethinks the rules, using colour in unexpected ways.
"In 2020, fashion is about
a sophisticated balance: between
minimal and maximal lies a
kind of hyper-harmony that is
both bold and subtle. Colours
shift from bold brights
to become more oxygenated and
airy." John Moroney, Vice
President Creative &
Communication.
INTREPID - Couture Collection 2020
This is a collection that goes beyond convention and
expectation. Colour merge and melt together - from soft
to strong, from dark to light. Shades are bold, but more
sophisticated and refined with toning almost 'oxygenated',
as if they have been infused with an airy softness: subtle
yet fashion-forward. They are created by the multi-layering
of tone-on-tone shades to create beautiful colour melts.

KMS Guest Artist and International
Session Stylist led a team of
distinguished KMS Asia artists to
create two glam styles for the
eco-chic fashion finale show. “This
year, I was inspired by the neon
lights of the city,” explains Marco...
NEON HAIR LOOK #1
A sleek, sharp, sophisticated up-do/
ponytail combo that was prepped
with MOISTREPAIR Leave-In
Conditioner to provide instant
moisture and heat protection; then
ADDVOLUME Volumizing Spray
was applied to give natural grip and
fullness, enabling hair to be more
easily structured. The ponytail was
smoothed in using a flat iron and
HAIRSTAY Working Hairspray
applied for a polished finish.
NEON HAIR LOOK #2
These loose beachy waves are totally
on-trend for AW19/20 and are all
about the texture, so after applying
ADDVOLUME Leave-In
Conditioner, hair was styled with
ADDVOLUME Styling Foam to
create soft waves and enhanced wave
formation. For a sleek and glossy
effect at the root growth area, load
on HAIRPLAY Styling Gel. For an
ultra-smooth frizz-free surface,
shield the style with TAMEFRIZZ
De-Frizz Oil.
“For both looks I finished off using
the fabulous KMS STYLECOLOR
to create a spectrum of faded
pastels, dark inky tones and cool
platinum ,” adds Marco.

Advertorial
Goldwell announces
Global Creative
Awards
A new global
competition to
showcase the
unlimited creativity
of Goldwell.
The year 2020 is the year of
change for Goldwell as
they introduce the Global
Creative Awards - an
entirely new global
competition focused
exclusively on creativity.
This new competition is the next
evolution of the Color Zoom
Challenge – Goldwell’s global trend
competition. “In the past we invited
hairdressers from all over the world
to participate in the Color Zoom
Challenge and show their
interpretation of the current
Goldwell collection. In 2020, it’s
time to go further – we want to give
our stylists the chance to show their
full creativity without any
limitations,”
John Moroney, Kao Salon Vice
President Creative & Communication.
The key difference with the new
Global Creative Awards is that
stylists are now free to create an
entry showing their own unique
vision, rather than having to use
Goldwell’s annual trend as the basis
for their creation.
According to Moroney, “Today’s
stylists want to show their own
creativity and not ‘copy/paste’
someone else’s inspiration.
We believe that now is the time
to take the chance to show the
world what a true creative does:
Imagine, Create and Inspire.
And now, we want to celebrate that.
They have the talent, we have the
stage for them.”
Starting in 2020 stylists can
compete in two different ways - the
Technical Awards with three
different categories and the Editorial
Awards with four new categories:
TECHNICAL AWARDS
Creativity that starts with a
photoshoot and ends with a live
technical competition. For years,
the Color Zoom Challenge has
inspired thousands of stylists to
compete – and now it continues in
an exciting new way.
// new talent colorist of the year:
to show the world that age is not a
prerequisite for creative excellence
and to show their talent and
technical ability. This category is
designed for stylists with less than
five years of experience.
// creative colorist of the year:
The ultimate colour competition.
In this category stylists create their
vision with a stunning photograph
and then recreate it in the
international live competition.
This category is open to all stylists
with the passion and drive to
compete in the world of colour.
// creative haircutter of the year:
This new category is open to all
passionate haircutters to show the
world that their work is a cut
above with this precision cutting
competition. In this category
stylists create their vision with a
stunning photograph and then
recreate it in the international live
competition.
The participants of the technical
categories have to compete first at
the national level in their country.
Afterwards the Gold winners
move on to the international live
competition.
EDITORIAL AWARDS-NEW
Four exciting new categories of
photo-only global competition
that celebrate the ultimate in
editorial creativity.
// men’s hairstylist of the year:
Stylists show their mastery and
expertise in men’s styling,
barbering, and Grooming by
creating a collection of cuttingedge
men’s looks.
// salon team of the year:
This category is the perfect
opportunity to show the creativity
of the entire salon team and to
create a collection that represents
a shared vision and show the
power of the entire team.
// avant garde stylist of the year:
To win this award stylists need to
push the boundaries of
conventional hairstyling and dare
to inspire with their collection of
visionary work.
// editorial colorist of the year:
In this category stylists have to
express their vision in colour and
to create an editorial colour
collection that showcases colour
creativity, precision and vision.
The participants of the editorial
categories have to compete globally
in this Photo-Only International
Competition.
The Gold Winners of each of the
global categories deserve the
recognition and reward for all of
their creative efforts. In addition to
their trophy, they will receive global
editorial coverage from Goldwell
Time to take the
chance to show
the world what a
true creative does:
Imagine, Create
and Inspire!
and the opportunity to participate
in a Goldwell photoshoot
(Technical Categories) and a cash
prize (Editorial Categories).
The winners of the first Global
Creative Awards will be
announced at the Kao Salon

Exclusive interview:
Kao Salon Vice President
Creative & Communication
announces the new
Global Creative Awards.
John
Moroney
The year 2020 will be of
major change: for the
first time Goldwell
invites stylists to enter
the Global Creative
Awards – a whole new
global competition
focused exclusively on creativity.
We talked to John Moroney, VP
Creative & Communication to get
more information about the new
upcoming challenge.
Stylists have been participating
in the Goldwell Color Zoom
Challenge for 17 years. In 2020
the concept and the awards will
change – what is the reason behind
this?
As with all things, it is time to
change and evolve. With the rise of
social media, we recognize that the
individual expression of creativity
is incredibly important to stylists.
They want to imagine and create
their own visions and put it out
there for the world to see. As their
partner, it give us an opportunity to
help them achieve their dreams by
giving them a global platform to
showcase their creativity.
That sounds great. Which awards
and categories are new?
We’ve adjusted the structure of the
categories to showcase what we
call the Technical Categories –
which are the award categories
that are a reimagining of the Color
Zoom Challenge: Creative
Colorist of the Year and New
Talent Colorist of the Year – these
are the categories that start with a
photo competition and culminate
in a live competition at the annual
Kao Salon event. In this area, we’ve
added a new category called
Creative Haircutter of the Year,
which is focusing just on the art of
haircutting. Our newest category
of awards are the Editorial
Categories – a global, photo-only
competition that is open to all
Goldwell stylists and salons.
These new Editorial Categories
are: Avant Garde Stylist of the
Year, Editorial Colorist of the Year,
Men’s Hairstylist of the Year and
Salon Team of the Year. We feel
that this gives a whole new world
of opportunity for all of our stylists.
What is your secret tip for
stylists who want to take part in
the new challenge?
There are so many tips to creating
a great image, here’s what I always
tell stylists: Invest in your model.
Your model is more than just her
hair and these are not just hair
photos. Your model is what brings
your creation to life.
Other than that, just do it. Enter
for the experience, winning is
great, but the experience you gain
and the lessons you will learn is of
the most value. You will build your
confidence and your eye as you
continue to participate. Creativity
is a muscle like anything else -
you have to practice and exercise
it regularly in order for it to grow.
Where will the award ceremony
take place?
The Global Creative Awards
results will be announced next
year at the Kao Salon Global
Experience Event in Amsterdam.
The event takes place on October
11 & 12, 2020.
For more information, you can check
with your local Goldwell supplier.

Alonzo:
the best in colour
Every woman has the desire to look fresh,
fashionable and uniquely attractive:
for many the journey starts with their hair
colour - for this, Alonzo holds the key.
Alonzo colour is thoroughly
researched in Australia
to well match well both
Asian and European hair
characteristics. It meets strict
quality-control requirements
expected of a premium hair
cosmetics brand.
Alonzo is one of the
best-known hair
cosmetics brand in
Australia &
Australasia, especially
in terms of
permanent colour,
for which the brand is recognized
for its original and professional
performance on millions of clients.
Not one to rest on its laurels,
Alonzo constantly updates to keep
up with unpredictable market
trends which persistently
transform the hair industry, not
only in Asia, but on a global scale.
Alonzo permanent colour’s current
relaunch even embraces a modern
packaging design and an effective
range of ingredients which are
certain to persuade more
professional hairstylists to want to
experience the brand's
groundbreaking colour results.
Every woman's desire is to have a
fresh, 'just done' look to their
hairstyle every day. That is never an
issue for women who have
undergone an Alonzo colour
transformation! Alonzo permanent
colour generates long-lasting
colour with a freshness that like
make-up for the hair.
The the latest version of Alonzo
permanent colour has inherited all
the greatest features of the previous
version and continues to be one of
the absolute favourites . It is the one
of the best colour for grey coverage
with a natural-looking result. There
is no doubt that Alonzo colour
conquers any level of colour even
when the base shade is intensively
dark or light, which along with
smooth and glossy shine it gives
means it goes for beyond the
expectation of customers. The key
to unlocking this stunning hair
results is down to the pure micro
pigments inside each Alonzo
colour tube, which can effortlessly
penetrate deeper into the hair
cortex, producing extremely
vibrant, glossy shades and a
long-lasting result. Furthermore, its
low ammonia level and gentle
fruity fragrance brings a sensation
of comfort and reassurance to
users. The application of cuttingedge
technology enables Alonzo
colour to be able to offer a cosmetic
colour treatment which providing
an endless choice of shades and
reflections. It is ideal for exclusively
professional salon use and can be
described as the hairstylists'
“magic tool” through which the
accomplished hairdresser can
unleash their creativity.
SO WHAT'S GETTING
EVERYONE SO EXCITED?
Super easy-to-use, Alonzo colour's
creamy consistency mixes perfectly
with Alonzo peroxide. The
convenient new modern packaging
design is very eye-catching,
complimenting and contributing to
interior salon design. The latest
Alonzo colour is composed of a
higher percentage of selected
ingredients, leading to its new
mixing ratio. Whist the former
mixing ratio colour with Alonzo
peroxide is 1 : 1, the new one is 1 :
1.15. Furthermore, Alonzo also has
launched a new colour code
formulated with natural ash
pigments which is the leading
trend in current world of hair
fashion. This invention is making a
step further for Alonzo towards
completing its cool colour range,
which previously only started at
level 8. Alonzo colour is thoroughly
researched in Australia to well
match well both Asian and
European hair characteristics. It
meets strict quality-control
requirements expected of a
premium hair cosmetics brand and
its versatility helps many colourists
keep up with or even set national
and international hair trends.
“Alonzo colour is the first choice of
many artistic hairstylists since it
sends us on an incredible journey
into a world of unlimited creativity
and true artistry," comments Mr.
Steve Sim Sin Lim, Malaysian hair
expert of 30 years' experience.

Beryl Ng from Macau: the Overall Winner
for the 23rd APHCA Hair & Make-up Olympics
Beryl studied administrative management in the Zhuhai Vocational and
Technical College. After graduation, she went to work in an administrative
job. Ever since Beryl was young, all her clothes had been hand-sewn by her
mother, which kick-started her passion for design, eventually leading her
onto make-up. While Beryl was working in her administrative job, she was
also taking classes to continue building her passion for design, progressing
onwards and joining the Creative Image Arts Association of Macau (CIAM)
and APHCA Macau.

The pure essence of
comfort and beauty:
we are delighted to
showcase the grand
opening of the first
Chihtsai flagship salon
in Guangzhou, China.
C
hihtsai was founded in
1978 owned as a family
business, focused on
simple hair product lines
sold locally. Then it was
taken over by SHAAN
HONQ in 1988. Founders,
Charlie and Julie, have achieved
outstanding results in realising its
international potential. It has gone
on to become a global business
brand committed to professional
use. Its story evolved from a deeply
emotional desire to connect with
people, places and objects which
inspire beauty and creativity
COLOUR REFLECTION:
BACK TO BASICS
On a visit to a bottle plant in
Germany in 1993, Charlie & Julie
were thrilled by branding which used
a rich yellow colour – Yellow
Seduction; as a result they decided to
Chihtsai
adopt the standard colours of yellow
by design
& white to represent Chihtsai products.
On returning to Taiwan, they were
then prompted to hire of one of the
country's most prominent calligraphers
to create the Chihtsai logo. The slender
and smooth design of “Chihtsai” in
the logo beautifully symbolises
female grace and elegance, aside by
the subtitle Yellow Seduction to show
the vivid characteristics of Chihtsai.
Although this original design has
been used for many years now, even
today it's still a combination most
favoured by European markets.
Following on from this was the
launch of Chihtsai’s Olive series,
the beauty of olive green conquered
the hearts of many. To this day, it is
still very popular in trade shows.
Add to this the special therapeutic
qualities of the elegant and distinctive
essences that have been added and
consumers’ sense of smell and touch
will immediately enjoy a sense of
relaxation from the very moment
when they open the products.
CHIHTSAI COLOR REFLECTION
will be the connection, communication, and
supportive medium between you and your
clients. In addition to the essential use of
colour, aromatic healing oil has been added
in the hope of bringing you extra happiness.
