JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2020 OHBELOVEDONE.COM LOVE, PAUL
read it like a letter
Because it IS a letter, and keeping that
in mind makes the epistles personal.
Letters can be lengthy. Letters can
be long and personal, full of quirky
anecdotes and tiny references, full of
deep things and reminders to “say hi
to so-and-so!” And Paul is a master of
weaving all of that for both individual
people and churches.
But more importantly, read it like a
letter … to you.
Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season
we will reap, if we do not give up.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9
We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed,
but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not
forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.
Romans 1:8
First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for
all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in
all the world.
I would be over the moon if someone
wrote me a letter like that. And here we
have a dozen or so, give or take, for us
to read and enjoy any time.
