JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2020 OHBELOVEDONE.COM TRANSLATION BATTLE

Personally, I love having two to three

different translations on hand when

studying God’s Word. Often, those

translations will have different words

or phrases that resonate a deeper

understanding. And if I don’t have a

physical copy of a certain version and

am curious how a verse is worded, I’ll

usually pull up the Bible app on my

phone to check it out.

How often do we take for granted

that we LITERALLY have God’s living

Word on hand at all times?

All told, if you are seeking a translation

that best fits you, or wishing to

study deeper and add a more unfamiliar

version to the one(s) you already

have, then I believe LifeWay’s® Bible

Selection Guide sums it up perfectly:

“If you’d like to go deeper in the Word with a text close to the original

languages, you may prefer a literal translation. If you’re looking for a Bible

that is readable and easy to understand, you may prefer a dynamic translation.

If you’re looking for a Bible that accomplishes both, the Christian

Standard Bible combines readability and accuracy in a text that is accessible

to everyone.”

May you learn to dig deep, my friend! God’s Word is an amazing gift to us

all—our very own instruction manual for life! And it doesn’t feature merely

teachings, but countless stories as well. It’s relevant yesterday, today, and for all

our tomorrows.

Don’t let anyone tell you differently.

And don’t be a Translation snob!
