JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2020 OHBELOVEDONE.COM TRANSLATION BATTLE
That said, let's not disrespect
others and their choice of
Bible translation. God is
perfectly capable of using
their particular Bible to speak
in ways they will most easily
understand, just as He will do
for you and the translation
you prefer.
That is not to say He cannot
speak to someone through a
translation that may initially
be more difficult for them to
comprehend—on the contrary,
He can use anything to draw
His children closer to Him.
But just because you prefer
this one [fill in the blank] does
not mean you should look
down your nose on the rest.
Having worked in the
Christian retail department
(specifically LifeWay®
Christian Stores), I dealt with
many questions in regards
to the translation battle,
and I have many stories
of customers who were
adamant this [fill in the
blank] translation was the
only one worthy of time,
and others who were simply
in need of a Bible that fit
their needs and spiritual
maturity level. Needless
to say, with my job as a
LifeWay® associate, I had to
do a little research on each
version’s background.
