JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2020 OHBELOVEDONE.COM MORE THAN
studying the Bible
just shows me the verse I need
right now,” you say as your fingers
“Lord
flip through the pages of your
Bible while you keep your eyes closed.
Sadly, studying the Bible is not this easy,
but a lot of people think they can study the
Bible this way. Studying the Bible isn’t easy.
You can sit down at your desk with a freshly
brewed cup of tea, a beautiful leather-bound
Bible, and not be able to focus for more than
five seconds without being distracted by your
phone or some weird noise outside.
In middle school my dad introduced me to a
study method that has consistently worked for
me. My dad has used it most of his life and
it was introduced to him by my grandfather
who was a pastor for over forty years! So I
think it’s safe to say this works. It’s always
helped me stay focused on the material I’m
reading and enjoy my study time!
Before I get into the method I recommend
you look into a Bible that has wide margins
that allows you to take notes or just use a
notebook and get multicolored highlighters
and pens that won't bleed through your Bible.
If you are looking into buying a new
Bible, do your research beforehand.
Ask your pastor, parents, and
church leaders what Bible they use
and what they recommend.
