Founders Day 2019: Mavs & Mochas

The December 7th Mavs & Mochas Founders Day
festivities began with the first of three events at the
NorthPark Mall Nordstrom location. This venue is
popular with generous parking availability, its central
Dallas location, and hot coffee available just inside. The
weather was sunny and mild making the event much
more enjoyable for the approx. 200 Porsche enthusiasts
in attendance. Row after row of the Nordstrom lot was
lined with cars participating in the People’s Choice car
show, as well as over a dozen 914s. As seems to be the
case with most Maverick events, it pays to show up early.
By the official start time of our event at 8:30, our reserved
lot was almost completely full!
beautiful white 997 GT2. This is a very rare car with less
than 200 brought to North America in 2008-2009. Since
I’m most familiar with the 997 generation of 911s, I can
appreciate the uniqueness of this car as I chatted with the
owner (Mark) about his car at length. He had owned the
car for only a few months and was enjoying it immensely.
What a find!
One of the other nice things about these events is
meeting people who are attending an event for the first
time, as was the case for Michael. He just bought a beautiful
guards red 996 GT3 and was asking about specifics on oil
changes. I explained the various event types and ways to
connect with other members. Based on his smile and

owners, but the variety of models and generations represented in the club. You will see anything from
air-cooled to water-cooled, rear-engine to mid-engine, and from vintage to current models on show.
It seems each time I attend, a new or unique car that
I have never seen before arrives; and this time it was a
enjoyment of sharing with other Porsche lovers - I’d say we
will see him at future Mavs & Mochas events!
