High school’stop achievers honoured<br />

ARangioraHigh School student who is<br />

bilingual,avolleyball player, acricketer,<br />

and aschoolleader, took out the inaugural<br />

PrimeMinister’sVocational Excellence<br />

Awardfor Excellence in Vocational<br />

Studies.<br />

The new award from the Ministry of<br />

Educationwas won by Year 13 student<br />

Jasmanda Tuaputa. Jasmanda is off to<br />

AucklandUniversitytostudy thisyear.<br />

The Dux of the school and winnerofthe<br />

Cartwright Trophy was head girl Bex<br />

Hughes. Bex was first in economics,<br />

French, law and maths with statistics.<br />

This yearthe Macintosh Cup for<br />

ProximeAccessit, or runner­uptoDux,<br />

was hotly contested. It was won by Antonia<br />

Rankin who was first in history and<br />

design.<br />

Josh Unwin received the Rangiora High<br />

School Scholarship for the top Maori<br />

StudentStudying at Tertiary Level.It<br />

recognises astudent who hasachieved<br />

highly academically or in contribution to<br />

tikangaMaoriinthe school.<br />

Josh was topstudent in VisualArts and<br />

is offtoVictoria University to study design.<br />

He alsohas won aVictoria University<br />

Tangiwai Scholarship to assist him with<br />

his studies.<br />
