High school’stop achievers honoured
ARangioraHigh School student who is
bilingual,avolleyball player, acricketer,
and aschoolleader, took out the inaugural
PrimeMinister’sVocational Excellence
Awardfor Excellence in Vocational
Studies.
The new award from the Ministry of
Educationwas won by Year 13 student
Jasmanda Tuaputa. Jasmanda is off to
AucklandUniversitytostudy thisyear.
The Dux of the school and winnerofthe
Cartwright Trophy was head girl Bex
Hughes. Bex was first in economics,
French, law and maths with statistics.
This yearthe Macintosh Cup for
ProximeAccessit, or runner­uptoDux,
was hotly contested. It was won by Antonia
Rankin who was first in history and
design.
Josh Unwin received the Rangiora High
School Scholarship for the top Maori
StudentStudying at Tertiary Level.It
recognises astudent who hasachieved
highly academically or in contribution to
tikangaMaoriinthe school.
Josh was topstudent in VisualArts and
is offtoVictoria University to study design.
He alsohas won aVictoria University
Tangiwai Scholarship to assist him with
his studies.

won by head boyLachieMacfarlane.
Lachie has gainedNCEA Level1,2and 3
