SUPPORT TO HELP
CONSUMERS SAVE
Local Debt Counselling and
related services company,
Meerkat have successfully
run the gauntlet of an intense
selection process to be one of
only two firms in South Africa
to receive funding and support
from the International Catalyst
Fund cohort. The Catalyst
Fund is an international fintech
accelerator supported by,
among others, JP Morgan.
They look to advance financial
inclusion in emerging markets.
Meerkat, who have been a
successful part of the industry
for over 4 years, will now go
through a 6 month accelerator
program with the Catalyst Fund
to bring a new innovative,
easy to use, low cost savings
product to SA. Consumers who
are in debt review (and those
who aren’t) will be able to make
use of the product to start their
journey to financial stability. A big
aim of the project is to help debt
review consumers save for the
unexpected or those big annual
expenses that come along.
