Ce petit groupe de personnages, une mère et son enfant, un mendiant et un homme
debout qui semble vêtu d’une robe de bure à capuche, peut rappeler l’art napolitain,
autour de Ribera ou de plus petits maîtres comme Giovanni Battista Spinelli. Mais il
semble plus probable que ce dessin soit d’une main espagnole. La graphie rappelle
particulièrement certains artistes comme Pedro Orrente ou encore Esteban et Miguel
March, tous deux très proches des peintres napolitains. On retrouve dans leurs dessins
cette façon un peu brutale de dessiner, qui mélange lavis et hachures 1 .
This small group of figures – a mother with her child, a beggar, and a standing man
who seems to be wearing a hooded monk’s robe – may evoke the Neapolitan art
in the circle of Ribera or smaller masters like Giovanni Battista Spinelli. However this
drawing is more likely to have been performed by a Spanish painter. Its graphic style
is particularly reminiscent of artists like Pedro Orrente or Esteban and Miguel March,
both very close to Neapolitan painters. In their sheets we can find this rather brutal
drawing technique that combines wash with hatching 1 .
