3. Running on the spot
This is ‘exactly what it says
on the tin’! A great fat burner
where you can choose the
intensity level to suit your
needs.
Begin by standing with the
feet shoulder-width apart snd
hands by your side. Engage
your core, lift your feet only
an inch or two off the ground,
hopping from foot to foot.
Move your arms as you jog on
the spot.
4. Side plank leg lift
This is fab for not only
working the abs, but also
toning legs, bums and tums!
Lie on your side with your
elbow directly underneath your shoulder and your
forearm perpendicular to your body. Shoulders
should be stacked and chest perpendicular to the
ground. Stack your feet together and place your top
hand on your hip. Then drive your hips up to form a
straight line with your body from head to toe.
Continue to keep hips elevated and avoid sagging
of the lower hip. Be mindful of contracting your
abs, quads, and more significantly your glutes. Raise
your top leg into the air and maintain a straight leg
throughout the movement. Hold this position for 2-3
seconds for each rep.
BIRD DOG
SIDE PLANK
LEG LIFT
5. Bird dog
With this exercise, you can really zone in and work
your back, glutes and core. Kneel on the floor and
support the body with both hands and both knees.
Position the back so that it is flat and neutral.
Simultaneously raise the right arm and left leg until
the extended arm and leg are horizontal.
Pause briefly before lowering the arm and leg in the
same path as the upward movement. Alternate the
side of the body worked with each repetition.
As with all goals, the key is taking the plunge
and starting; however small the step, every little
counts when it comes
to building and
maintaining fitness.
Keeping fit and active
impacts and helps us
in every aspect of our
daily lives, from mental
health to keeping
physically fit.
Now more than ever,
the importance of
making a conscious
effort to move and keep
fit is key.
