Experiential Learning<br />
All candidates for Level 4 accreditation are required to maintain their knowledge<br />
base through actively participating in cruising related training or workshops such as:<br />
a) variable plot cruising;<br />
b) basic statistics for forestry;<br />
c) all grade/net factoring;<br />
d) 3P sampling;<br />
e) aerial photo stratification;<br />
f) <strong>log</strong> scaling;<br />
g) cruising association seminars;<br />
h) double sampling techniques; and<br />
i) self-study/improvement.<br />
4.0 Endorsement Criteria<br />
An ATE must meet the following requirements to be signed-<strong>of</strong>f by an ATE, RFT or<br />
RPF at Level 4:<br />
a) have the ability to function as a senior cruiser without supervision;<br />
b) complete all competencies at Level 4 as described in this document;<br />
c) complete Level 1, 2 and 3 plus another 36 months (<strong>of</strong> which at least 15 <strong>of</strong><br />
those months must be at Level 4 [in training]) <strong>of</strong> appropriate field and <strong>of</strong>fice<br />
experience; and<br />
d) be competent with all functions identified in Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4.<br />
4.1 Equipment Knowledge<br />
At this level, the ATE has already demonstrated his or her ability to safely operate<br />
and maintain all types <strong>of</strong> cruising related equipment.<br />
4.2 Field Procedures<br />
An ATE must be able to demonstrate the following:<br />
a) all Level 1, 2 and 3 requirements; and<br />
b) carry out supervision, field training and auditing for all cruiser levels.<br />
