LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Know the fundamentals of data privacy.
2. Gain insight into the psychology of privacy.

5. Audit your own organization for data privacy
strengths and weaknesses.
6. Learn ways of using data privacy for competitive
advantage.
This course will offer a data privacy framework that explains
drivers and outcomes, as well as overviews of both the customer
and organizational risks that are involved. The instructor takes a
synergistic approach to examining data privacy from individual,
organizational, regulatory and global perspectives. Participants
will have a comprehensive understanding of the data privacy
landscape and will be able to identify the most serious privacy
elements in the organization and proactively improve practices
for strategic advantage.
Kelly D. Martin is Professor of Marketing and Dean’s Distinguished Research
Fellow at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. She joined CSU in 2007, and
currently teaches Quantitative Business Analysis across the College of Business
MBA Programs.
She is coauthor of the book The Intelligent Marketer’s Guide to Data Privacy. Kelly
is incoming Co-editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing.
Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree from Gonzaga University, an MBA from the Heider
College of Business at Creighton University, and a Ph.D. from the Carson College
of Business at Washington State University, where she was Outstanding Graduate
Student for Research. Prior to academia, she worked as a marketing director in the
assisted living industry.
