paths, the kids had scraped their arms and legs on<br />
thorns and brambles. They were totally turned<br />
around and thoroughly confused.<br />
“I wish we had a compass,” said Grant.<br />
“Papa always carries a compass.” Grant<br />
sounded like he could cry.<br />
“I hope Mimi and Papa aren’t worried sick,”<br />
said Christina, who sounded near tears, too. She<br />
knew they would be in big trouble if they did not<br />
check in with their grandparents right away.<br />
“Amy will look for us,” said Courtney. “I<br />
think. Unless she went home already.”<br />
Alex’s voice trembled as he said, “Dad<br />
thought I was getting a ride with you, Courtney, like<br />
