Needless to say, Mapother is doing all he
can to reduce the myriad of variables which
can stand between a working actor and
long-term success in a fickle industry.
“Like a lot of people in the creative fields,
work for actors cycles up and down. You
heap your plate with potential projects
because the slow cycles are very difficult to
bear, not only financially but emotionally. I
would far rather be swamped and stressed
than bored.”
Mapother will continue to heap his plate
with projects all the while knowing there is
a certain element of chance to Hollywood
success. But, at the end of the day, he says,
“Fortune favors the prepared.”
“One of the most thrilling and terrifying parts
about the business is its unpredictability.
Opportunities can fall right in your lap. It is
no surprise, however, that they seem to do
that more often when you have prepared
for them.”
