In August, Matt Hanka was appointed Assistant
Professor of Political Science and Director of the Master
of Public Administration Program at the University of
Southern Indiana in Evansville, Ind. Prior to that, he
was the Senior Research Associate for the Center for
Sustainable Urban Neighborhoods at the University of
Louisville for four years. He earned a Ph.D. in Urban and
Public Affairs from the University of Louisville in May 2009.

Jonathan Sawyer continues to develop a strong German
program at the well-known Montgomery Bell Academy in
Nashville, Tenn.
Patrick Lach earned his Ph.D. from Mississippi State
University in 2008 and is now an Assistant Professor
of Finance at Eastern Illinois University. Last year he
received three teaching awards: the Outstanding Teaching
Award from the faculty, a Special Recognition in Teaching
Excellence from the students, and the Teaching with
Technology Award from the EIU Center for Academic
Technology Support.

John (J.B.) Bryan is working at Peace Corps headquarters
in Washington, DC, where he is special assistant to the
director of the Office of Strategic Information, Research
and Planning.
Art Baumann graduated from
Washington University in St. Louis in
2009 obtaining his BS in Mechanical
Engineering, Masters in Finance, and
Masters in Business Administration.
He recently passed all three levels of
the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
program and is currently completing
his qualifying work experience. Art works for Edward
Jones at the national headquarters in St. Louis as an
Equity Analyst, specializing in the Industrial sector. He and
his wife, Callie, have been married three years. Contact

Pat Denbow graduated Summa Cum
Laude from Wittenberg University with
a BS in political science and helped
lead the school’s men’s basketball team
to the 2006 NCAA Division III National
Championship game. Denbow currently
resides in Orlando, Fla., and travels
across the country operating golf
tournaments as the sponsorship manager of the

David Horne graduated with a
BS in International Studies from
Centre College, where he was
president of the Sigma Chi
fraternity and two-time captain
for the soccer team. He was
Centre’s first NSCAA Academic All-American and the
2006 Centre College Male Athlete of the Year. Horne
went on to play professionally outdoor and indoor for
the Cincinnati Kings while serving as the assistant coach
at Centre College. He is the founding General Manager
and a player for the Louisville Lightning professional
indoor soccer team, which is in its second season
(www.LouisvilleLightning.com). He was also supporting
commentator and analyst for the Insight television
broadcast of the 2010 St. X vs. Trinity varsity soccer game.

Elliott Reid graduated with honors
with a BS in Finance and Psychology
from Southern Methodist University
(SMU) in Dallas. He also served as
Sigma Chi president during his years
at SMU. After college, Reid was
hired into the Financial Leadership
Development Program (FLDP) at
Raytheon. He fulfilled numerous positions within Raytheon
in various locations, including Dallas, L.A. and Kiel,
Germany. He is currently the lead financial analyst on the
Taiwan Spares Contract at the Integrated Defense Systems

Rob Schenkenfelder graduated
Magna Cum Laude with a
BS in Accountancy from the
University of Kentucky. Among
other involvement at UK,
he was a Gatton College of
Business Student Ambassador,
VP of Communications for Sigma Phi Epsilon and studied
abroad in Vienna, Austria. Schenkenfelder graduated
from the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College
of Business Masters of Science in Accountancy (MSA)
program in 2008. He previously worked in the Assurance
Services practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), working
with clients Kindred Healthcare Inc. and Lexmark
International Inc., but recently joined an investments
practice at UBS with John Schenkenfelder & Stuart
Mitchell. Rob has been licensed as a Kentucky CPA since
November 2009. At a recent Louisville Bats game, he
threw the first pitch sponsored by the KY Society of CPAs.

Isaac James Pence received his Bachelor of Engineering
in Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University in May
and was accepted into the Ph.D. program in Biomedical
Engineering. During his senior year, Isaac also served as
the President of the Vanderbilt Concert Choir.
John Baunach has been
selected by Vanderbilt University
to participate in the Nuclear
Engineering/Health Physics
(NEHP) Fellowship. The program
is supported by the Nuclear
Regulatory Commission’s
Nuclear Education Program and allows students to pursue
at Vanderbilt a Masters Degree in Physics, with concentration
on Health Physics, with full financial support from the
Department of Energy. John received his BA in Physics
with a minor in Astronomy from Vanderbilt University in
May. While pursuing his graduate degree, he is teaching
physics at Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, Tenn.
