In August, Matt Hanka was appointed Assistant<br />
Professor of Political Science and Director of the Master<br />
of Public Administration Program at the University of<br />
Southern Indiana in Evansville, Ind. Prior to that, he<br />
was the Senior Research Associate for the Center for<br />
Sustainable Urban Neighborhoods at the University of<br />
Louisville for four years. He earned a Ph.D. in Urban and<br />
Public Affairs from the University of Louisville in May 2009.<br />

Jonathan Sawyer continues to develop a strong German<br />
program at the well-known Montgomery Bell Academy in<br />
Nashville, Tenn.<br />
Patrick Lach earned his Ph.D. from Mississippi State<br />
University in 2008 and is now an Assistant Professor<br />
of Finance at Eastern Illinois University. Last year he<br />
received three teaching awards: the Outstanding Teaching<br />
Award from the faculty, a Special Recognition in Teaching<br />
Excellence from the students, and the Teaching with<br />
Technology Award from the EIU Center for Academic<br />
Technology Support.<br />

John (J.B.) Bryan is working at Peace Corps headquarters<br />
in Washington, DC, where he is special assistant to the<br />
director of the Office of Strategic Information, Research<br />
and Planning.<br />
Art Baumann graduated from<br />
Washington University in St. Louis in<br />
2009 obtaining his BS in Mechanical<br />
Engineering, Masters in Finance, and<br />
Masters in Business Administration.<br />
He recently passed all three levels of<br />
the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)<br />
program and is currently completing<br />
his qualifying work experience. Art works for Edward<br />
Jones at the national headquarters in St. Louis as an<br />
Equity Analyst, specializing in the Industrial sector. He and<br />

Pat Denbow graduated Summa Cum<br />
Laude from Wittenberg University with<br />
a BS in political science and helped<br />
lead the school’s men’s basketball team<br />
to the 2006 NCAA Division III National<br />
Championship game. Denbow currently<br />
resides in Orlando, Fla., and travels<br />
across the country operating golf<br />
tournaments as the sponsorship manager of the<br />

David Horne graduated with a<br />
BS in International Studies from<br />
Centre College, where he was<br />
president of the Sigma Chi<br />
fraternity and two-time captain<br />
for the soccer team. He was<br />
Centre’s first NSCAA Academic All-American and the<br />
2006 Centre College Male Athlete of the Year. Horne<br />
went on to play professionally outdoor and indoor for<br />
the Cincinnati Kings while serving as the assistant coach<br />
at Centre College. He is the founding General Manager<br />
and a player for the Louisville Lightning professional<br />
indoor soccer team, which is in its second season<br />
(www.LouisvilleLightning.com). He was also supporting<br />
commentator and analyst for the Insight television<br />
broadcast of the 2010 St. X vs. Trinity varsity soccer game.<br />

Elliott Reid graduated with honors<br />
with a BS in Finance and Psychology<br />
from Southern Methodist University<br />
(SMU) in Dallas. He also served as<br />
Sigma Chi president during his years<br />
at SMU. After college, Reid was<br />
hired into the Financial Leadership<br />
Development Program (FLDP) at<br />
Raytheon. He fulfilled numerous positions within Raytheon<br />
in various locations, including Dallas, L.A. and Kiel,<br />
Germany. He is currently the lead financial analyst on the<br />
Taiwan Spares Contract at the Integrated Defense Systems<br />

Rob Schenkenfelder graduated<br />

University of Kentucky. Among<br />
other involvement at UK,<br />
he was a Gatton College of<br />

VP of Communications for Sigma Phi Epsilon and studied<br />
abroad in Vienna, Austria. Schenkenfelder graduated<br />
from the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College<br />
of Business Masters of Science in Accountancy (MSA)<br />
program in 2008. He previously worked in the Assurance<br />
Services practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), working<br />
with clients Kindred Healthcare Inc. and Lexmark<br />
International Inc., but recently joined an investments<br />
practice at UBS with John Schenkenfelder & Stuart<br />
Mitchell. Rob has been licensed as a Kentucky CPA since<br />
November 2009. At a recent Louisville Bats game, he<br />
threw the first pitch sponsored by the KY Society of CPAs.<br />

Isaac James Pence received his Bachelor of Engineering<br />
in Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University in May<br />
and was accepted into the Ph.D. program in Biomedical<br />
Engineering. During his senior year, Isaac also served as<br />
the President of the Vanderbilt Concert Choir.<br />
John Baunach has been<br />
selected by Vanderbilt University<br />
to participate in the Nuclear<br />
Engineering/Health Physics<br />
(NEHP) Fellowship. The program<br />
is supported by the Nuclear<br />
Regulatory Commission’s<br />
Nuclear Education Program and allows students to pursue<br />
at Vanderbilt a Masters Degree in Physics, with concentration<br />
on Health Physics, with full financial support from the<br />
Department of Energy. John received his BA in Physics<br />
with a minor in Astronomy from Vanderbilt University in<br />
May. While pursuing his graduate degree, he is teaching<br />
physics at Ravenwood <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> in Brentwood, Tenn.<br />
