On the eve of last publication date as chief
editor I got flu symptoms; in line with Victorian
Covid Safe regulations, I needed to get test and
self-isolate at home hence was unable to carry
through all edited materials resulting in the nonpublication
of an issue. We send our apology
to our readers and commit we will deliver yet
another high-quality issue this round.
Some readers doubted whether we had
stopped the operation. Indeed with the sharp
fall in commercial advertisement many Chinese
media in Australia has ceased to operate. I can
promise we will keep going and we need your
continued support. All our commercial sponsors
please stay with us.
Over this period we always have the
community in mind and have advanced different
platforms to feed Covid information. Since August
we are having two hours of broadcast through
3WBC FM94.1 local radio station, one hour of
which is dedicated to Covid coverage. Until the
Stage 4 restriction was lifted recently we went
back to the previous Tuesday and Wednesday
broadcast sessions. Two hours daily production
could be stressful, thankfully with community
support, we have made it. Since mid-September,
with the State Governments support, we have
been producing a 4-minute Chinese news on
Covid to go online via the blessingCALD.com.
au community channel.
Actually blessingCALD.com.au is a
multicultural web-based media platform, giving
Covid updates mainly in English but incorporating
different languages. Minor ethnic communities
welcome this program as they could benefit from
the daily feed.
Covid is changing the world and every
society. As media we certainly realise the
importance of genuine, prompt, precise
information with social responsibility amid this
difficult time. So besides daily and world updates
we also offer encouraging messages with a view
to giving hope, faith and love to the community. I
believe God will allow and provide us in this role.
I also believe we will keep adjusting our
efficiency in serving the community. We will
employ more technical platform to widen our
reader community. We will go further and greater.

What is the C300e
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz C300e is
one of the most progressive examples of
sustainable luxury mobility to date. On
paper the model takes the form of the latest
Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan, but under the
skin there’s a host of advanced technology
which pushes the German automaker’s
plugin hybrid efforts to exciting new heights.
As the replacement to the older C350e,
the new model is quicker with more power
and achieves more range while consuming
less petrol. It sounds like the right ecoformula
for an industry that is heading
towards full electrification in the coming
decades, but it’s the finer details which
makes the C300e a proper contender for
today’s environmentally conscious car
customer with discerning taste.

Why Asians should buy the C300e
The Mercedes-Benz C300e is a proper
step up to the plug-in electric vehicle hybrid
(PHEV) game and is not just a gimmick
to extend the C-Class model range. At the
heart of the car is an uprated 13.5kWh
battery which now delivers an impressive
driving range of 52km - that’s almost
double the electric-only driving range of
the older C350e. This allows the C300e
to achieve a combined fuel consumption
rating of 2.1L/100km - for reference, the
fuel economy of some of today’s popular
petrol scooters average around 3.5L/100km.
Mercedes-Benz also claims that carbon
dioxide emissions have also improved by
over 15-percent.
While all this talk about the
environment is important for society, at

the heart of every Mercedes-Benz badged
vehicle must be premium design and build
quality. The C300e manages to balance its
green credentials without compromising the
carmaker’s reputation for delivering high
standards of luxury for occupants.
This is expressed with interior features
such as leather upholstery, pre-entry climate
control, AirBody Control Suspension for
active ride height and levelling, and Driver
Assistance Package which includes Active
Distance Assist with automated cruise
control. The latter technology can also
predict your speed and adjust for different
road bends, intersections or roundabouts.
Other appointments include Keyless Go with
a hands-free boot opening function.
C300e models equipped with the
Comand infotainment system can also pair
their navigation data with the car’s radar
and camera sensors to adjust driving routes
or vehicle speed for the best electrical energy
use and regeneration.
What are the features
Starting with the engine, the C300e
comes with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol
engine which produces 155kW of power and
350Nm of torque. The paired electric motor
delivers an extra 90kW of power and 440Nm
of torque to bring the total hybrid system
output to 245kW of power and 700Nm of
torque. Drive is sent to the rear-wheels
via a nine-speed automatic transmission
that’s capable of getting the sedan from 0 to
100km/h in just 5.4-seconds.
If those performance numbers aren’t
impressive enough, the C300e can also reach
its full battery charge in seven hours using
a conventional domestic socket, or in two
hours using the optional Mercedes-Benz
Wallbox Home.
The C300e’s exterior is not groundbreaking
and this is a good thing. Its
formulaic execution of bold and elegant lines
means that the C-Class is able to remain
both timeless and contemporary at the same
time.
If there is one notable feature that the
C300e falls behind on, it’s limited boot
space. The requirement for a bulky battery
means some of the luggage volume is used
up, affording just 300-litres of space as
opposed to the standard petrol C300 sedan’s
455-litres.
The rest of the interior however is what
you’d expect from a well-designed Mercedes-
Benz. A pleasant cabin with nice touches of
aluminium and piano black finishes blend
effortlessly with leather. It also seats four
people comfortably with plenty of space and
headroom. A fifth passenger is possible but
it will become a bit cramped in the middle
seat. Storage is also ample throughout the
cabin with drink bottle holders in all four
doors.
Mercedes-Benz C300e price?
The Mercedes-Benz C300e Sedan is
priced at $84,000 excluding on-road costs.
Despite its host of electronics, the C300e is
still covered by Mercedes-Benz’s five-year/
unlimited kilometre factory warranty and
the on-board lithium-ion battery is covered
for six years. Servicing is recommended at
25,000km or 12 month intervals.
Customers are given the freedom to
choose their service plans to suit with three
years for $2,000, four years for $2,800 or a
five year schedule for $4,300.
