RUGBY DEVELOPMENT NEWS
RUGBY DEVELOPMENT CONTINUES
ACROSS THE PROVINCE
While rugby matches and contact training
sessions take a break under the current
Level 5 restrictions, Munster Rugby
Development staff continue to work with
clubs and schools across the province
hosting non-contact skill development
games and activities. With COVID-19 Health
& Safety Plans in place, clubs and schools
can work within government guidelines to
continue as a hub for physical and mental
wellbeing for school aged children. Noncontact
sessions can be run within a pod
of 15 including coaches and COVID-19 Club
Compliance Officers. Last week, a number of
staff worked closely with volunteers in the
Kerry based clubs of Castleisland RFC, Corca
Dhuibhne RFC, and Tralee RFC.
PILOT ONLINE COACHING COURSES
PROVING SUCCESSFUL
The Munster Rugby Development
Department hosted four online coaching
events during the month of October as
part of this season’s coaching course
programme. These events are designed to
accommodate coaches who wish to achieve
their IRFU coaching awards for coaching
children and coaching youth levels, through
a blended learning approach. They are part
of a three-stage process designed around
the current restrictions with online Zoom
calls and interactive breakout rooms to
support coach understanding of the course
curriculum. It is hoped these coaches can
complete their awards through face-toface
deliveries in due course. This season
the IRFU have integrated a new online
registration and coaching course enrolment
system where all attending coaches are
automatically registered on the GAINLINE
learning management system. Here they
can engage their personal profile, download
course certificates, access online coaching
resources and complete other online
courses or requirements. Any queries
regarding coaching courses can be directed
through education@munsterrugby.ie.
