a big fan of the gym to be honest, so this is a
good time to improve a bit on my gym work.
The guys have me in a good programme
and working hard in the gym. It is good for a
change to be excited about a gym session!”
CATCHING UP WITH
On working with other players who are
rehabbing…
“We as a rehab unit need to stick together and
stay tight because we are a bit more isolated
from the team. Neilie (Cronin) has joined me
recently with another ACL. It’s never nice to
see someone else get injured as well but I have
to say it is good having some company in the
gym.”
Rugby World Cup winner RG Snyman spoke
earlier this week on how he is settling in at
Munster, navigating lockdown and his rehab of
the ACL injury sustained in August.
On getting injured on his Munster debut...
“It was a surprise and a disaster really for me
because that’s not the way I wanted to start
my career in Munster - especially only being
here a short time and with Covid happening
not really getting to know everyone. I wanted
to build the respect of the team and my teammates.
Going off after 5 or 7 minutes is not the
perfect way to do that. In saying that, everyone
has been very supportive. Everyone has made
it a little bit easier.”
On his Rugby World Cup experience…
“It’s been emotional with the ‘Chasing the Sun’
documentary airing last Sunday week – the
final episode. I’ve been going through all the
photos that we took there, calling the guys
at home and messaging on our group chats.
Everyone still has the same excitement we had
a year ago. The memories we made together.
A little bit sad we are in lockdown and we
can’t really visit each other’s homes. Myself
and Doogz (Damian de Allende) would have
loved to have had a braai – I don’t know if the
weather would allow it!”
On settling in...
“It is a bit difficult trying to get to know
everyone in lockdown especially if you can’t
go to visit people and things like that. Luckily
around here it is very friendly and very
welcoming. It is ok for me, but I think it is more
of a struggle for my wife. She is enrolled in
online studies so at least she is getting to know
people through that.”
On how his recovery is progressing…
“I think we are making a lot of progress with
it. Ray McGinley who is doing the rehab with
me is very good. I’ve actually started working
a bit harder in the gym for a change. I’m not
