Delray Under $50
Most Fun Small Town, Most Crazy Small Town, Most Small Town that Feels
Like a Big Town. Delray has it all. With a bustling downtown, Pineapple
Grove area, and little nooks and crannies in between, there’s more
to do in Delray now than ever, with events and happenings
spanning from daytime to nighttime. While it can
seem expensive at times, there’s a great
opportunity to enjoy all the City has to offer
without breaking the bank. Here’s what you can
do in Delray Beach in January for $50 or less.
Regardless if you are sick, it’s cold outside, or you’re missing
home, there’s almost nothing that a comforting bowl of soup
can’t fix. January is National Soup Month and is a great idea
for almost any meal. (If you haven’t had ramen for breakfast, you
haven’t lived.) To get the best out of the soup holiday without any of
the cooking, look no further than your favorite downtown restaurants.
One soup destination that is a must is Señor Burrito for their
Chicken Vegetable Soup. Served with a touch of onions and cilantro
in a bowl that is larger than your head, this $8.50 soup is just like
moms. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, head over to the
Ramen Lab Eatery and slurp up some of their 5 Spiced Duck Ramen.
Made with a family recipe, five spices duck, bean sprouts, bok
choy, garlic oil and micro cilantro for $16, it’s a guaranteed flavor
trip. Or, if you are in the mood for a classic done really well, City
Oyster is dishing out some of the best seafood-focused soups in
town. Their New England Clam Chowder ($9) and Classic Lobster
Bisque ($13.50) will give you all the Oohs, Aahs and Mmms that
you have been craving! Check out our Dining Guide or visit www.
downtowndelraybeach.com for a list of restaurants.
Creativity is key for making the most of a pandemic-filled
year, and we can all give a little thanks to our local creative
stars for giving us some beauty this year. January is Worldwide
Rising Star Month and if you are looking for a reason to
check out what’s shaking in the art space in Delray, and possibly
stretch your legs and get outside, then mark your calendars for
the Virtual First Friday Art Walk! Past events have always been
held in person, but you now have the option to join in virtually
if you are more comfortable couch surfing, which can be just as
fun (with wine and appetizers). Held Friday, January 8 from 6 to
9 p.m., you are invited to visit local galleries and art studios and
meet the rising stars that are our local artists. If you are joining
in virtually, visit the Delray DDA Facebook page that night of, or
if you’d like to come out and check out the exhibits in person,
the artists would love to meet you. All safety protocols will be
in place so enjoy a night out as you start the year in a beautiful
Phew, this was a tough year for most small businesses. The
pandemic caused business owners to pivot, rethink, reorganize,
and battle to capture as much business as possible.
We’re all hoping for an easier 2021, that’s for sure. January is International
New Year’s Resolutions Month for Businesses and is a
great time to take what we learned from 2020, apply the changes
we need, ask for help getting there, and put the plan in place. If you
are a small business owner who needs a little encouragement and
assistance, the Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency
has your back. Not only does the CRA provide grants for small businesses,
but they are also offer a great resource via the Small Business
Development Center. The local SBDC offers no-cost consultation
services to all small business owners in the CRA District and
provides help during each stage of the business life cycle, including
capital access, marketing, social media, executive coaching, strategic
planning, and more. If you are ready to take your small business
